This position is responsible for querying and analyzing large data sets, refining and optimizing reporting solutions, ensuring data accuracy and integrity, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to develop and execute long-term strategies aligned with organizational goals.

The ideal candidate will possess a strong analytical mindset, experience converting large amounts of data into consumer-friendly reports, excellent problem solving and communication skills, and a proven track record of delivering actionable insights to support informed decision-making and drive operational excellence.

Responsibilities

• Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to apply creativity to data analytics.
• Queries and analyzes large data sets and develops and validates user-friendly reports.
• Facilitates strategic decision-making processes by providing insights on planning, policy development, work methodologies, procedural enhancements, resource utilization, organizational structuring, assignment distribution, and information management.
• Conducts comprehensive program and operations research and analysis with a focus on financial metrics to drive informed decision-making.
• Designs and develops customized reports tailored to meet specific financial analysis and reporting requirements.
• Collaborates closely with stakeholders and departments to gather and synthesize financial data along with business requirements, ensuring alignment of reporting objectives with actionable data.
• Provides expert support for the optimization and maintenance of all financial systems integral to operational reporting and efficiency.
• Contributes to the University of Utah Health's short and long-range financial planning cycle through data-driven insights and recommendations.
• Transforms complex business challenges into actionable technical solutions, bridging the gap between business needs and technological capabilities.
• Conducts in-depth analyses and audits on financial data, patient-level financial metrics, and other statistical indicators to drive financial performance improvements.

Qualifications

Required

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Analytics, Information Systems, Business Administration, Health Care Administration, a related field, or the equivalent experience.
• Four years of progressively more responsible financial management analyst experience.
• Experience conducting data analysis using relational databases.
• Experience in using reporting software packages including : Excel,SQL,Tableau, Python, etc.

Qualifications (Preferred)
