Position Overview
We are seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to apply their professional and technical expertise in designing electrical systems that align with the owner's vision for each project.
This individual should have a solid understanding of the consulting engineering process and the contractual documents involved.
Responsibilities
- Determine the scope of assigned projects and use software programs to create electrical system designs, including lighting, power distribution, emergency generation systems, fire alarm, security, and other electrical systems.
- Create cost-effective system layouts, quantities / sizes, and specifications, ensuring compliance with applicable codes.
- Prepare and layout BIM drawings and coordinate with all other disciplines throughout project production, from schematic design to construction documents.
- Perform construction administration tasks such as site observations, shop drawing review, and preparation of punch lists.
- Define project scope accurately and manage any potential scope variances to ensure client satisfaction and project success.
- Maintain excellent relationships and communication with clients, partners, architects, owners, and other design and construction professionals.
- Mentor more inexperienced electrical designers as needed.
- Perform miscellaneous duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Must be authorized to work in the United States and based in Tampa, Florida.
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering.
- At least 5 years of experience in electrical engineering design of commercial buildings, preferably in aviation, higher education, healthcare, hospitality, entertainment, or governmental facilities.
- Preferred licensed Professional Engineer (PE) or Engineer in Training (EIT).
- At least 2 years of experience coordinating with multi-discipline engineering teams.
- Experience with various project deliverable methods, including design-build, design-bid-construct, fast-track, and other construction delivery methods.
- Knowledge of local, state, and national codes, as well as other laws, regulations, and potential liabilities affecting engineering practices.
- Proficiency in Revit MEP required , along with familiarity with other engineering software programs.
- Highly proficient in technical and computer skills, including Microsoft Office , internet and web applications.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
- Ability to prepare original specifications for project systems and components.
- Must have technical knowledge and hands-on experience in evaluating electrical engineering options.
- Experienced in cost containment and reduction approaches.
