Longwood University invites qualified applicants to apply for the positions of Assistant Coach, Sports Performance - Olympic Sports / Education Support Specialist II (T0027 & T0028).
As an Assistant Sports Performance Coach for Olympic Sports, you will play a key role in an elite Division I department who values the total student-athlete experience.
You will gain valuable on and off-field experience that will prepare you for future growth opportunities. Primary job responsibilities will be the design, implementation, and scheduling of sport specific strength and conditioning programs for 3-5 sports teams as assigned by the Director of Sports Performance.
Essential Responsibilities and Duties :
- Assist with daily supplement and nutritional needs of athletes
- Assist in the daily operation and upkeep of the Olympic Performance Center
- Assist the Director of Sport Performance in the education and management of sport performance graduate assistants and interns
- Must be proficient in Olympic and strength training movements, exercise selection, as well as the programming and implementation of speed, agility, and plyometric progressions for required sport assignments
- Must have the ability to cultivate relationships with student athletes, sport coaches, and athletic trainers
- Other duties as assigned
Job Requirements :
Minimum Qualifications :
- Bachelor's degree in a related field and 1-2 years of relevant experience in a professional or collegiate setting
- CSCS or SCCC certification required
- CPR / AED certification required
- Experience working with a variety of Olympic sports
Preferred Qualifications :
- Master's degree strongly preferred
- USA Weightlifting coaching certification preferred

These are part-time, temporary wage, non-exempt positions in a pay band 3. Commonwealth of Virginia benefits do not accompany these positions.
