We are seeking a Certified Payroll Specialist to join our team in Tampa, Florida. This role is crucial in maintaining payroll compliance and ensuring the smooth running of our payroll operations.
As a Certified Payroll Specialist, you'll be working in a fast-paced environment, dealing with multi-state and prevailing wage payroll issues, and using your knowledge of federal and state prevailing wage laws to ensure compliance.
Responsibilities
- Oversee and manage certified payroll audits and payroll compliance reporting
- Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local prevailing wage laws, including certified payroll reporting and documentation
- Collaborate with internal and external personnel to maintain compliance on all company projects
- Process and manage payroll functions as required
- Utilize knowledge of the Davis Bacon Act of 1931 to ensure compliance
- Use Accounting Software Systems for managing and processing payroll
- Perform general ledger entries related to payroll
- Support in the management of workers compensation, including uploading numbers to the workers comp system
- Handle multi-state payroll processing, with a focus on California payroll
- Assist in the regular payroll processing as a backup when necessary.
- Must hold a certification as a Payroll Specialist
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in a similar role
- Proficiency in Accounting Software Systems
- Demonstrable knowledge of various Accounting Functions
- Experience in Auditing
- Familiarity with the Davis Bacon Act of 1931
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Detail-oriented and highly organized
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to handle confidential information responsibly
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
