Medical Center : Nursing Research- (Full-Time, Day Shift) -
Job Summary : The Director of Nursing Research is a PhD or DNP prepared nurse scientist who provides mentorship, leadership, consultation and oversight in all aspects of nursing research to individuals, professional governance councils (PGCs) and evidence-based practice (EBP) teams throughout Loma Linda University Health (LLUH) system a Magnet Recognized large tertiary academic medical center with multiple specialty program accreditations and designations.
Develops, implements and sustains an EBP program and mentors all levels of nurses in project development, completion, evaluation and dissemination of project outcome.
Works closely with the members of the Institutional Review Board (IRB) to facilitate nurses as approved primary investigator through the IRB.
Ensures that all nursing research projects are run through the IRB and follow the established guidelines. Collaborates with the LLUSON faculty to partner with research projects and or publications.
Partners with the senior nursing leadership, and IRB to develop and implement nursing research policies and procedures that meet state and federal regulations on research.
Tracks call for abstracts and speakers from local and national and international conferences. Assists staff with abstract development and submission, podium presentations and or poster development and presentation.
Networks with local and national nursing scientist to develop partnerships in research projects, publications, and speaking engagements.
Collaborates with nursing administration, Magnet department and hospital councils to ensure the organizational culture encourages and supports the development of research projects, and EBP integration into patient care.
Assists with writing the Magnet document and periodic information as requested. Takes responsibility for professional growth and development.
Sets goals for professional development and demonstrates progress on previously set goals. Mentors and coaches managers, charge nurses and staff in transforming culture, processes and clinical practice that meets the demands of cutting-edge health care delivery and nursing excellence.
Supports and inspires the journey to nursing excellence and maintaining Magnet Recognition as outlined by the American Nurses Credentialing Center.
Facilitates the professional governance initiative and provides support and guidance as needed. Performs other duties as needed.
Education and Experience : Master of Science Degree in Nursing required. PhD in healthcare related field or DNP required.
In progress acceptable. Minimum five years nursing experience required, with two years of experience in teaching nursing in an academic setting preferred.
Experience in a nursing management / leadership position, journal publication, and grant writing preferred.
Knowledge and Skills : In depth knowledge of research process, data management and statistical analysis. Demonstrates knowledge of quality, patient safety, performance improvement, regulatory requirements, medical staff structure, peer review and legal aspects of patient care.
Able to work with Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) and other statistical programs. Knowledge of research principles and completion of a research project required.
Knowledge of healthcare law and finance preferred. Able to read; write legibly; speak in English (and Spanish preferred) with professional quality;
use computer, printer, and software programs necessary to the position, e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook, Publisher, Access, Power Point.

Licensures and Certifications : Active California Registered Nurse License.
