What you’ll do :

As a Director, Facilities / Environment of Care, you will assist in planning, organizing, directing, and supervising assigned activities of the Enterprise Plant Operations Department functions which are necessary in maintaining performance improvement activities within the Plant Operation Department and participates in Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) activities.

The Director is responsible for the overall compliance of all hospitals with local, national, and federal codes & regulations as they relate to Environment of Care, Life Safety and Emergency Management issuesThe Director is responsible for conducting facility surveys to ensure that Inpatient Rehabilitation (IRF) and Behavioral Health hospitals maintain compliance in preparation for accreditation by Accrediting Organizations (i.

e. The Joint Commission, CIHQ, etc.).

The Director works closely with the Directors of Plant Operations, Hospital Administrators, and HSC Leadership and Staff to ensure the highest standards of quality, service, and operations are maintained.

Also, works in conjunction with other HSC resources to assure that the infrastructures of all hospitals always remain in a safe condition.

The Position is responsible for providing management oversight for all corporate standardized compliance programs in new / existing hospital locations and provides support for new hospital implementation.

The Position also provides regular reports and updates on progress to milestones, key issues, and timely decision as needed.

Responsibilities :

Serves as key resource and supports Plant Operations departments across the company.

Develops, implements standardized Environment of Care, Life Safety and Emergency Management programs within the company.

Acts as the subject matter expert.

Responsible with developing, establishing, and planning the overall policies and goals for Lifepoint Hospitals as they relate to Environment of Care, Life Safety and Emergency Management Compliance.

Works closely with the HSC Quality Department, hospital Plant Operations departments and hospital Executives to ensure initial and continuous survey readiness as related to the physical environment at all hospitals.

Supports the Inpatient and Behavioral Health (BH) hospitals and the Independent Rehabilitation Facilities (IRF) Plant Operations Directors regarding the physical and structural conditions of hospital facilities and the status of work in progress.

Monitors departmental personnel matters and makes recommendations, such as selection, training, promotion, discipline, and termination.

Supervises scheduling of department personnel.

Directs the grievances of employees to the Plant Operations Department personnel in the use of policies, procedures, and standards of work performance for maintenance and repair of equipment, buildings and building systems.

Assists in administering and supervising the maintenance program to ensure the uninterrupted operation of the network physical plans.

May develop and participate in the orientation of new employees and the continuing education of department employees in the repair and maintenance of all equipment.

May instruct personnel regarding hazards and safety to ensure safe procedures and safe use of equipment.

Responsible for coordination of all fire and safety measures throughout the network hospital including fire and safety inspections and procedures in conjunction with Safety and Security Departments.

Participates in performance improvement and information management activities.

Provides Corporate, Regional, and local Senior Leadership with expert advice and guidance on all EOC and Life Safety issues.

In conjunction with the local and corporate teams, serves as the subject matter expert with a comprehensive understanding of the CMS Conditions of Participation and the Joint Commission as well as, CIHQ standards.

Interview Plant Operations candidates for the hospitals.

On-board, train, and mentor new Plant Directors.

The Director develops Environment of Care and Life Safety programs to assure corporate compliance with all rules and regulations.

Prepare new and existing facilities for Accrediting organizations (The Joint Commission, CIHQ) inspections and other inspections by regulatory agencies such as Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) and state agencies.

Performs on-site facility inspections as a member of the Survey Readiness Assessment (SRA) Team to verify field conditions of each hospital.

Consult with facilities on resolving issues or concerns with specific items such as airflow in sensitive areas, hazardous materials, safety, and security management.

Documents and develops written inspection results and required action plans to correct deficiencies noted in the field.

Evaluate and review data collection and data management by facility engineering.

Distributes reports to appropriate personnel and follows up on corrective actions required by each facility.

Provides resources and information to corporate and field personnel when required, as it relates to Life Safety and Environment of Care issues.

Will attend educational seminars as required to maintain up to date knowledge and skills as they relate to Life Safety Management.

Maintains documentation and verifies that hospitals are in compliance with the computerized Work Order / Preventive Maintenance Building Maintenance Program as it relates to the Joint Commission and other Accrediting organizations Environment of Care and Life Safety standards.

Inspect and verify that facility Statement of Conditions documents are in place, up to date, and accurate (where applicable).

Able to effectively support, work with and through other departments as required to meet company objectives.

Regular and reliable attendance.

Perform other duties as assigned.

What you’ll need :

Education : Bachelor’s Degree or any equivalent combination of education, experience, and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Experience : 5-10 years of experience as a Facilities Manager, Director of Plant Operations and / or Safety officer in a hospital setting.

Certifications : Certified Healthcare Safety Professional (CHSP), Certified Healthcare Facility Manager (CHFM) preferred or Certified Emergency Healthcare Emergency Professional (CHEP).
