Ancestry is looking for a motivated Associate Software Quality Engineer to help maintain high-quality releases by the development team.

Reporting to our Software Development manager, you will steer the development team toward better test strategies, and help them to maintain deterministic test automation.

You will prepare test plans and cases, and write automation towards the completion of those cases. Some ad-hoc, manual testing will be required based on the risk of the release.

You have a passion for software testing, quality and a great customer experience. You may mentor, coach, and work directly with the development team to promote adoption of testing best practices and tools.

You may lead efforts with third-party testers on their development teams.

What you will

Plan, scope, schedule and implement testing activities for projects of varying size and complexity.

Continue to improve automation coverage & reduce regression cycles

Implement and enforce continuous testing quality gates in CI / CD pipelines.

Work with team members to clarify requirements, ensure testability and automatability and provide feedback on functional and technical design

Analyze the potential impact of the requirement changes, assess risk and be a vocal champion for quality in every phase of the development process

Create / Evaluate test tools to improve the test process, test coverage, and overall quality

Manage bug flow, own bug triage and promote fixing and validation of bugs.

Communicate status, metrics, and trending of quality.

Who you

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or equivalent required

1+ years software testing experience managing automated user interface tests

Fluency in test automation using tools and frameworks that automate the user interface

Verifiable working knowledge of HTTP protocol (methods, headers, MIME types), REST, JSON, XML

Solid understanding of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and modern web development frameworks ( React, NextJS, etc.)

Experience in manual testing approaches to supplement automation, especially for edge cases or new features.

Experience with continuous testing practices in a CI / CD development pipeline, and deploying test automation in the dev pipeline

Experience using performance testing processes

Working knowledge of AWS, Docker, Jenkins, continuous delivery, Git

Experience with Cypress, Jest, and Mocha

We are pleased to share the base salary range for this position : $62,190 - $71,010 with eligibility for bonus, equity and comprehensive benefits including health, dental and vision.

The actual salary will vary by geographic region and job experience. We will share detailed compensation data for a specific location during the recruiting process.
