Responsibility / Duty

Supervisory, training, mentoring, and coaching responsibilities of project team members in post-award financial management of restricted sponsored projects, including grants and contracts.

Coordinates project team members, systems, and procedures for processing sponsor-supported contracts and agreements.

2. Oversees the post-award review of all extramural funding, including government and non-government grants, foundation awards, and contracts on behalf of the departments and its functional groups to assure institutional and sponsor compliance, budgetary appropriateness, and compliance of grant and contract awards to applicable governmental guidelines.

  • Prepares and submits fiscal reports as required and performs in-depth financial analysis and forecasting for complex trials.
  • Manages re-budget requests, Buy@Duke, Procurement, A / P - A / R oversight, S4 Financial System, prior approval requests, and all external partner engagement activity, including but not limited to members, i.

e., DSMB, CEC, etc., sub-recipients, consultants and vendors.

Job Requirements

Minimum Education / Training

Work requires communications, analytical and organizational skills generally acquired through completion of a bachelor's degree program.

Minimum Experience

Research or grants education and / or certification is preferred.

  • MS Office Suite / Adobe Acrobat Pro Proficiency : Solid working knowledge of MS Office Suite (Word, Access, Excel, PowerPoint).

  • Communication Skills : Ability to communicate verbally and in writing effectively with all levels of the organization.
  • Multitasking Abilities : Capacity to manage and prioritize multiple projects / tasks simultaneously.
  • Reporting Skills : Ability to create comprehensive verbal and written reports.
  • Federal Rules and Regulations Knowledge : Comprehensive understanding of federal rules and regulations relating to grant and contract activity and the ability to apply this knowledge to Duke University policies and procedures.
  • Grants and Contracts Process Knowledge : In-depth knowledge of processes, systems, and offices involved in grant and contract submission and management.
  • Research Conduct Knowledge : Understanding the responsible conduct of research and managing advanced compliance issues.
  • Cost-Sharing and Effort Allocation Knowledge : Familiarity with processes and systems related to the management of cost-sharing and effort allocation.
  • System Experience : Experience with functions in SPS, S4, and grants.duke, SES, iForms, eCrt, and other related systems associated with assigned duties.

This is a fully remote position.

Minimum Qualifications

Education

Work requires communications, analytical and organizational skills generally acquired through completion of a bachelor's degree program.

Research or grants education and / or certification is preferred. Successful completion of the Research Administration Academy (RAA) and Advanced Grants Management is required.

Employees hired into this classification without the expected credentials will work closely with their manager to schedule and successfully complete all training (12 months to complete RAA and an additional 6 months to complete AGM).

Successful completion of all expected training will be an annual performance goal until complete. Upon completion of expected training, the employee must maintain Research Administration Academy (RAA) certification and Advanced Grants Management (AGM) certification by completing continuing education requirements.

Certified Research Administrator preferred.

Experience

Work generally requires three years of relevant grants and contracts experience.
