MANAGER, COMMUNITY OUTREACH

SUMMARY :

The Connecticut Green Bank (hereafter "Green Bank") is seeking a Manager to join its growing Outreach team. The Manager will engage with communities, especially vulnerable and underserved communities, to help them address their energy, sustainability, and resiliency needs.

The Green Bank has established a vision for its outreach and engagement through its comprehensive plan that : "The Green Bank builds trust and awareness within our community - especially amongst its most vulnerable members - through clear and transparent communication, education, and active listening, enabling us to understand and meet their needs.

By strategically cultivating strong, collaborative, and reciprocal relationships with stakeholders, we empower them to achieve their energy, environmental, and resiliency goals while advancing the mission of the Green Bank and realizing its vision of a planet protected by the love of humanity."

The Manager will execute on the Green Bank's outreach and engagement vision through consistent interaction and engagement with communities across Connecticut.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES :

  • Building relationships and partnerships with community-based groups and organizations, including government (e.g., municipalities and municipal volunteer groups, regional councils of government, and relevant state agencies), environmental advocacy and nonprofit groups, and organizations representing vulnerable and diverse populations;
  • Developing leads for Green Bank products both through direct engagement with stakeholder organizations and by developing partnerships that allow the Green Bank to support those organization's audiences, members, or constituents with Green Bank products;
  • Representing the Green Bank at events, speaking engagements, and in front of community representatives;
  • Collecting, analyzing, and providing stakeholder feedback to relevant program and product development teams, especially collecting feedback that ensures Green Bank products are accessible to vulnerable populations;
  • Supporting the development of and executing on community-based outreach campaigns designed to increase adoption of Green Bank products and programs, especially in vulnerable communities, in coordination with the Green Bank's Marketing team;
  • Coordinating and leveraging the Green Bank's relationship with Sustainable CT to drive adoption of Green Bank products and support the program teams and other Outreach staff;
  • Coordinating with program teams (Environmental Infrastructure, Financing, and Incentives) to provide market intelligence, to develop and handoff qualified leads, and on the development and execution of campaigns;
  • Related duties as required.

The overall duties of this position will be refined based on the skills, qualifications, and experience of the individual hired and the ongoing needs of the team.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED :

  • Experience in community planning and organizing, or outreach and engagement;
  • Ability to manage multiple relationships and tasks;
  • Knowledge and experience with, or interest in developing skills as it pertains to, DEI principles and working with diverse audiences and stakeholders;
  • Strong communication skills, verbal and written. Bi-lingual, Spanish speakers a plus;
  • General knowledge of renewable energy and energy efficiency policies and programs, or a willingness to learn;
  • Ability to understand various energy and sustainability-related technologies and financial products;
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship management skills involving the ability to work with other parties, at all levels, internally and externally;
  • Strong writing skills and the ability to communicate effectively, through oral and written communications;
  • Ability to work as part of a team, but also work independently, exercise judgment, think critically and creatively, and take initiative;
  • Strong organizational skills and demonstrated ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously;
  • Knowledge of customer relationship management and / or workflow applications, including Salesforce;
  • Must be a self-starter and have the ability to prioritize work;
  • Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and other software programs as necessary.

EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING :

Minimum 4-8 years of relevant work experience, particularly working with community groups. Experience working with energy or environmental financing programs is preferred.

SUBSTITUTIONS ALLOWED :

A bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, social work (with a focus on macro social work) or other related field may be substituted for four (4) years of general experience.

In this situation, the candidate must have a minimum of four (4) years of full-time work experience.

The Green Bank will determine if this position will be filled at the Associate Manager or Manager level based on the experience and qualifications of the individual selected.

EMPLOYMENT DETAILS :

  • This position reports directly to the Associate Director, Marketing & Outreach.
  • It is expected that the position will be based in the Green Bank's Hartford, CT offices, with opportunities for some remote work.

Attendance at events on nights and weekends may be required on occasion.

  • State of CT benefits package, including generous time-off, health insurance covering medical, dental and vision, retirement, tuition reimbursement for continuing education, and paid leave.
  • Salary commensurate with experience, ranging between $85,000 - $110,000.

  • Frequent communications, verbal and written, both qualitative and quantitative.
  • Visually or otherwise identify, observe, and assess.
  • Repetitive use of hands and fingers typing and / or writing.
