Job Description

Dogtopia, the industry leader in dog daycare, boarding, and spa services, has an immediate opening for an energetic, organized, and talented individual at our Pearl District location as a full-time Groomer.

This is a role for someone who already has an established clientele base, who understands hard work, and knows how to provide top customer service to ensure a great grooming experience for the dogs in our care.

This person should love dogs - and, upon successful completion of training, you can even bring YOUR dog to work with you! What a bonus!

Day-to-Day Duties

• Perform Grooming services including bathing, brushing, haircuts, style, nail trims, and ear cleaning
• Operate and maintain grooming tools and equipment in a safe and efficient manner
• Monitor dogs for signs of discomfort, illness, injury and report concerns to the General Manager and Pet Parents
• Provide outstanding customer service by active listening, offering grooming recommendations, and addressing any questions or concerns
• Along with the General Manager, create a culture of "yes, and..." and be able to go above and beyond for our Pet Parents
• Assess each dog's individual needs, taking into consideration their coat, skin condition and temperament to provide a safe and healthy grooming session for the dog
• Educate pet owners on grooming maintenance and at-home care to promote overall wellness for their dogs
• Collaborate with the General Manager and store team members to create a positive and fun work environment

Qualifications

• Must love dogs
• 3+ years proven experience as a professional groomer with a strong portfolio of successful grooming work
• In-depth knowledge of various grooming and styling techniques, especially breed-specific cuts, styling techniques, and grooming standards
• Ability to spend up to 100% of work time standing, lifting 50+ pounds
• Ability to work flexible days and hours, including holidays and weekends
• Ability to work cohesively with others in a fun, fast-paced environment
• Strong customer service skills, along with customer tolerance
• Excellent communication skills, strong attention to detail
• Compassion and patience when handling the dogs in our care ensuring they have a positive experience throughout the grooming process

Compensation Package

• 30% commission based on total grooming sales
• Pay rate of $16 per hour
• 100% tips you keep

ï Tools must be in good condition

ï It is your responsibility to maintain grooming tools

ï Ability to work in a noisy and busy environment

ï Commitment to ongoing education and certification

ï Familiarity with animal behavior and health conditions

ï Adherence to the highest standards of cleanliness and hygiene

ï Punctuality and reliability in attendance and performance
