Bilingual (Spanish/English) Instructional Assistant - Les Paul

Position Start Date As soon as possible Salary / Wage $18.87 / hour Terms / Schedule 5.5 hours / day, 10 months, school calendar Appointment Type Part Time Description The bilingual instructional aide / assistant role will ask candidates to support newly enrolled students who speak Spanish to access their curriculum and learning in English through supports provided in Spanish and bilingually.

Candidates must be bilingual in English and Spanish with fluency in both languages. Candidates will be supporting students to access 6-8th grade math and US History and must demonstrate the ability to speak and read Spanish within those content areas to facilitate supports and reteaching.

Candidates must have a sincere interest in and skill in supporting newly arrived students. Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each duty satisfactorily.

• Ability to maintain confidentiality relating to students and families.
• Must obtain CPR and first aid certification within the first few months of employment.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS :

• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
• Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

REASONING ABILITY :

• Ability to exercise good judgment and effectively solve problems.
• Ability to utilize problem-solving techniques in correcting and changing student behavior.
• Using discretion in handling confidential information about students.
• Modeling and reinforcing positive behaviors which are expected of students.
