Overview We are seeking a full-time Operations Engineering Team Leader in our Olathe, KS location. In this role, you will be responsible for directing and coordinating activities of an Engineering team and associated processes within Operations.
Essential Functions Directly supervise various levels of team members by setting the tone for the team environment, building healthy team relationships, and providing individualized coaching, training and mentoring Participate in recruiting activities (ex.
Job fairs, college campus interviews, etc.), interview, hire, train, resolve associate relations issues, and evaluate / appraise performance for the team as well as plan, assign and direct work Direct team activities to implement production of new products and processes, enhance existing designs, improve process techniques, and develop test procedures Analyze technology trends, human resource needs, and market requirements to develop plans for efficient use of material, manpower, machines and method in support of a continuous flow environment Support Operations leadership in the daily activities of manufacture, service, and distribution of products Team with Engineering and Management in introducing new products into Operations and track product development to be certain project milestones are met Apply statistical methods to review / analyze process output, quality, maintenance and operational reports to determine causes of nonconformity or inefficiency in order to focus associates on key success factors to drive improvement in Quality, Cost, Delivery and Service (QCDS) Work with Design Engineering, Management, and Process Engineering in process and design improvements to improve process yield and quality of products Coach fellow associates to develop skills necessary to improve QCDS, provide career development, and retain valued associates Estimate processing times, assign Operations Engineering associates to specific projects, and prepare interim and completion project reports Evaluate equipment and processes to ensure associate safety Review, test and validate all aspects of the electrical design / software interfaces Review, test and validate all aspects of the mechanical design Determine general approach and specific solutions to technical problems Apply knowledge of production and operations processes to overall design Interact with product design engineers to incorporate Design for Manufacturability principles Interface with product / process engineering teams and individuals to ensure all solutions comply with product and process design specifications Generate revision-controlled design and user documentation Project manage and collaborate with fellow project stakeholders Conduct training for equipment operators and maintenance technicians Troubleshoot, support and continuously improve existing automated solutions Basic Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Industrial Engineering Excellent academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.
0 as a general rule) Must possess a minimum of 4 years management experience in Engineering Design, Operations, Process Engineering, Industrial Engineering or Electronics Manufacturing with a demonstrated ability to manage technical human resources Demonstrated knowledge of Engineering and Operations processes / documentation Demonstrated strong knowledge of Garmin’s product lines and customer needs Must possess a broad technical knowledge and skills of manufacturing and / or warehouse processes Demonstrated strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills to work across functional / organizational lines Must be positive, detail / quality / team oriented, organized, analytical and a highly motivated multi-tasker, and self-starter with the ability to prioritize and be flexible in a fast paced, deadline-driven environment Garmin International is an equal opportunity employer.
