Job Description :

Using a practitioner-scholar model, the MAC program trains well-rounded clinical mental health counselors (CMHC), professional school counselors (PSC), and marriage, couple, & family counselors (MCFC) for the realities of day-to-day practice within a diverse world.

The MAC program emphasizes practical application of theory, development of case conceptualization skills, ethical awareness, appreciation of diversity, and self-awareness.

Students are introduced to a broad range of clinical issues through a breadth of coursework delivered by practitioner faculty.

Supported clinical experiences focus on the delivery of clinical services and assist students to develop a coherent theoretical and ethical framework for practice.

We are looking for an experienced professional to head our MAC program in the School of Health and Social Sciences.

Job Summary :

Program Directors are accountable for a quality student experience. Provide visionary leadership and management to ensure the success of the MAC program, including program design, curriculum development, assessment, and technology integration.

Lead and manage academic staff, full-time faculty, and teaching faculty. Foster student development and actively engage in educational governance.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities :

Program Management

Plans, organizes, directs, staffs, and monitors operations of the MAC program, including curriculum assessment, review, and development.

Maintains program currency and leads the effort to review and revise the program to enhance the student learning experience.

Internship Supervision

Oversees the internship programs for the MAC students. Creates, approves, and supports appropriate internship sites and professional relationships with agencies and supervisors.

Teaching Excellence

Teaches 3 courses a year or the equivalent, within compensation, as assigned by the supervisor, to ensure quality of program and student learning experience.

Demonstrates excellence in teaching and learning while fostering student development. Establishes a commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging in the classroom through continuous development, modeling inclusive behaviors, and proactively managing bias.

Performance of Faculty and Staff

Monitors the performance of academic staff, full-time faculty, and part-time teaching faculty to ensure program quality. Responsible for hiring, developing, evaluating, and managing expectations of direct reports.

Provides effective orientation, training, mentoring, and coaching to foster a respectful, empowering learning environment.

Curriculum Development and Review

Ensures that program curriculum aligns with the CityU Academic Model, focuses on application and current practice, and meets applicable accreditation standards.

Student Learning and Development

Oversees and advocates for student learning and engagement. Proactively develops students to become responsible, ethical, self-directed professionals.

Promotes diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging in mental health practice.

Academic and Institutional Governance

Participates in academic and institutional governance by serving on councils and committees.

Currency and Scholarship

Provides leadership to ensure faculty currency. Models, encourages, and promotes scholarship in teaching and learning.

Service and Outreach

Participates in and promotes professional communities in areas of expertise.

Requirements :

Minimum Qualifications :

  • An earned doctoral degree from an accredited institution in Counseling or a related field.
  • Experience in higher education management and adult education, with a minimum of three years of proven experience in teaching, preferably in both in-class and online modes of educational delivery.
  • Program development, administration, and leadership experience.
  • Demonstrated experience leading and managing in a creative and fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work comfortably with and manage virtual teams.
  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal skills. Must relate to and communicate with diverse students, faculty, staff, and external communities.
  • Ability to present an appropriate professional image.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products and learning management systems in support of quality teaching and learning.

Salary information :

$100,000 - $110,000 / year
