Job Summary

Plan and execute the operation, maintenance, repair, replacement, and location of Mechanical systems including HVAC, chilled water, steam, sewers and associated components.

Develop a long-term Mechanical replacement plan and an annual execution plan. Define Mechanical training needs and deliver training.

This position will interact on a consistent basis with : Staff and management, project managers, building managers, building occupants, vendors, contractors, students, and visitors.

This position typically will advise and counsel : Staff and management, project managers, building managers, building occupants, vendors and contractors.

Responsibilities

Job Duty 1 -

Provide engineering support and assist the Utilities and Power Plant Superintendents in the operation, maintenance, and repair of the Mechanical Utility generating and distribution equipment, building Mechanical systems, and utility locating.

Job Duty 2 -

Develop and manage replacement and repair projects for mechanical components and systems with in-house and contract services.

Job Duty 3 -

Maintain a campus 1-year equipment replacement plan. Develop the annual MRR execution plan.

Job Duty 4 -

Assist area managers to solve issues involving Mechanical systems.

Job Duty 5 -

Define training needs and provide or coordinate training services.

Job Duty 6 -

Perform other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

Educational Requirements

Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience

Other Required Qualifications

Overnight travel required for project delivery; flexibility in on-site daily service delivery hours (due to client shift schedules, project requirements)

Required Experience

Six to eight years of job related experience

Preferred Qualifications

Additional Preferred Qualifications

Fundamentals Examine (FE) or Engineer-in-training (EIT) certified, Professional Engineers license, or State Trade License in any mechanical field

Preferred Educational Qualifications

Master's Degree in related field

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

SKILLS

Technical ability including expertise in Mechanical systems and troubleshooting, competence in field operations, mechanical utilities and controls, and basic knowledge about engineering tools and regulations.

Computer skills including standard MS Office software and CAD. Management ability including very good written, organization, and delegation skills, good verbal skills, and basic knowledge about scheduling, coordination, and estimating.

Project management ability including competence in developing specifications, contract, and contract execution.
