Staff Accountant - Fiduciary Accounting
Position Summary :
We are looking for an entry level accountant to join our growing Fiduciary Accounting team. We are responsible for ensuring the proper accounting of business generated by the Company’s wholesale brokerage, reinsurance, and underwriting management operations.
Essential Functions :
- Process Claim Cash Call Requests
- Verify and process cash calls for payment as submitted in system queue.
- Partner with Treasury to maintain proper vendor banking information.
- Assist in completing Company’s monthly, quarterly, annual financial close processes.
- Preparation of journal entries
- Balance sheet reconciliations
- Assist in ensuring business unit complies with Corporate Accounting policies and required internal controls relating to fiduciary accounting.
- Perform weekly / monthly calculations and analysis related to fiduciary accounts.
- Assist with optimization projects to improve the efficiency of financial data and month-end and quarterly cycles.
- Assist in compilation of documentation in preparation for audit reviews, external and internal.
Education / Experience / Skills :
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting preferred
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Office Applications
- Willingness to learn and take direction.
- Knowledge of GAAP accounting principles and audit, knowledge of SOX control frameworks.
- Experience with insurance preferred
- Ability to work independently when needed.
- Ability to take initiative, ask for help, and share ideas.
