NJ Systems Integrator seeks a skilled Automation Industrial Design Engineer to assist with front-end design of industrial automation and control systems for a wide array of machinery.
The ideal candidate will have experience in factory automation, with the ability to select components to configure efficient designs, and prepare proposals based on customer drawings, single lines, specifications, and sales advice.
Strong technical writing skills are essential. This role involves working closely with upper management, vendors, and distributors, as well as traveling to job sites to survey new opportunities.

Key Responsibilities :
Collaborate closely with upper management, customers, sales teams, Project Engineers, and vendors to evaluate customer requirements, provide technical expertise, and identify solutions for machine-upgrades and drive / PLC projects.
Review customer RFPs, engineering drawings, site videos, and electrical schematics to ensure designs meet project specifications.
Estimate work hours, materials, travel, and logistics to meet customer scope of work, while selecting appropriate components and developing pre-engineered BOMs.
Create written proposals backed by costing spreadsheets for jobs and projects.
Prepare for and attend project kick-off meetings to review scope and requirements with project engineers.
Attend bi-weekly engineering meetings to discuss ongoing and upcoming projects.
Willingness to travel to job sites for surveys and participate in vendor training to stay current on new technologies. Mostly local travel or back same day.
Potential for 3-4 trade shows and / or out-of-state site visits per year.
Willingness to work paid overtime during high-demand periods.
Establish yourself as a key contributor within 6-12 months, enabling senior executives to shift concentration toward business development.
Required Qualifications :
BSEE, BSME, Mechatronics degree or strong employment experience in the field
Superior oral / written communication skills
Ability to read electrical drawings / single line diagrams / project specifications
Proficiency with MS Windows / Word / Excel / PowerPoint
Strong time management and organizational skills to handle multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
Responsive spirit to customer inquiries and assignments
Valid Driver’s license and good driving record.
Must be able to read, write, and speak English fluently.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a desire to develop public speaking abilities.
Preferred Skills and Experience :
3-10 years in the field of automation or industrial controls
Applications engineering for industrial automation or industrial distribution sales a plus
Knowledge and familiarity with manufacturing lines, machinery, industrial processing and electro-mechanical components
Strong proficiency with Rockwell, Siemens, ABB controls components
AutoCAD and / or SolidWorks experience; Machine design and / or controls design a plus
Comfortable interfacing with multiple team members across various departments.
Ability to develop client-facing and technical presentations.
