The team you’ll be joining

Vivint is a fully integrated smart home, security, and energy company that offers a wide range of products designed to provide customers with comfort and peace of mind.

One of the core teams responsible for delivering this customer experience is our Ecosystem Team.

The Ecosystem Team focuses on realizing the potential of the home by integrating all devices to create deep and robust experiences.

This position will specifically support the Smart Lighting Squad and the App Information Architecture Group. Your areas of ownership will include :

• Collaborating on lighting strategy with your product squad
• Unique experiences & Automation for lighting outside of core lighting controls experience
• Conducting up-front discovery to enhance lighting experiences
• Helping define current and future roadmaps for smart lighting
• Lighting settings, both in the app and on a hub display
• Aiding additional teams with high-priority projects, such as App Information Architecture

Top Responsibilities

• Participating in discovery to help identify which problems to solve
• Going wide on ideation and narrowing to validated solutions via testing and iteration
• Owning the design of end-to-end product experiences on the Vivint Smart Hub and Display
• Collaborating and communicating with your product development team
• Advocating for the user by using data, industry best practices, and your own expertise to enhance the Hub and Display experience
• Designing with the consideration of technical feasibility and product constraints

Additional Responsibilities Include

• Contributing to and maintaining the Vivint Design Library
• Managing an asset library
• Designing for accessibility needs
• Surfacing issues proactively that could impact timelines or user experience
• Designing compelling experiences that will excite everyone who comes in contact with them
• Creating customer journey maps based on research in collaboration with your product squad
• Mentoring more junior designers on your team
• Prototyping and testing early and often
• Designing and moderating your own research initiatives throughout the discovery and design process
• Defining success metrics to test your experiences against
• Following up on launched products / experiences to determine if your product success metrics are being hit
• Being accountable and highly communicative with your team

Previous Experience / Qualifications

• Proven ability to partner with Product and Engineering leaders & peers to deliver great experiences
• Well-versed in a broad range of design methodologies
• An outstanding portfolio demonstrating the successful delivery of innovative interface design solutions
• Experience presenting and rationalizing UX design strategy and decisions to diverse audiences
• Experience with product discovery and research
• Excellent visual design skills and attention to detail
• Proven experience at all stages of the design process
• Experience with hardware is a plus
