Primary Function
Clinical Domestic Violence Specialists are responsible for providing consultation to child welfare staff at Child Welfare Contributing Agencies, to help ensure that issues of domestic violence are addressed.
Duties and Responsibilities
- 1. Conducts clinical case consultations and leads clinical staffings to address domestic violence and connected issues affecting families, working to help ensure child safety;
- 2. Annually works with the Program Administrator in ongoing planning, program development, and to indicate improvements for the program;
- 3. Contributes to the development of a statewide domestic violence database;
4. In an effort to keep current in the field, interacts with various constituencies in the domestic violence community, social workers, attorneys, court personnel, school counselors, hospital social service department, foster parent groups, and others.
Required Qualifications
- Forty-hour DV Training Certificate required.
- Two years of professional child welfare experience; and five years in the domestic violence field required.
- Master’s degree from an accredited university in a clinical or related area of study, such as social work, counseling, clinical psychology, or community counseling preferred.
Illinois Certified Domestic Violence Professional Certification (ICDVP) and licensed clinical social workers preferred.
