Director of Construction
The Director of Construction will be responsible for the successful start-up and delivery of all construction projects in Florida (Miami).
This position will ensure that all project timelines are met, and all cost objectives are aligned. The Director of Construction ensures the optimization of all resources to further develop company growth, vendor management, and process improvements while enhancing internal team and external client relationships.
Responsibilities :
- Responsible for project initiation; including requirements gathering, scope definition, creation of budget and schedule, staffing, and strict reviewal / implementation of construction management contracts
- Day-to-day oversight of multiple construction projects and project teams
- Identify, monitor, and manage project issues and risks; mitigate and resolve these risks / issues in a timely manner
- Visit each job site regularly and attend the contractor progress meetings as required in order to have working knowledge of current project status and issues
- Attend all regular Owners meetings for entire pipeline of projects
- Review all budgets, schedule updates, and change orders
- Monitor and prevent major cost and schedule impacts.
- Assist the Project Managers and Superintendents with overall field operations and project delivery
- Provide required coverage for Project Managers and Superintendents on their sites when project coverage is necessary
- Work with the accounting department to resolve all invoicing and payment issues; this can include reviewing and approving all hourly time sheets
- Contribute to process improvements and project management best practices
- Ensure that all employees are given the resources needed in order to achieve successful project delivery
- Guide both project management and field personnel in proper planning, subcontractor selection and execution of the work.
- Monitor progress of each project and make adjustments as needed to keep the projects on track for success
- Track the performance of individual projects based on cost and schedule and make the necessary alterations.
- Provide technical write-ups and attend pre-bid meetings and walkthroughs
- Must possess excellent analytical, presentation and writing skills to review contract documents and prepare and present technical approaches.
- Direct office management in developing and implementing key human resources policies for the company
Qualifications :
- Bachelors degree in Construction Science / Engineering degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
- 10+ years end-to-end project management experience from initiation through launch and closure across construction projects for multi-family luxury developments in Florida
- Experience developing construction project schedules and budgets is mandatory
- Proven ability to build quality relationships with stakeholders, architects, engineers, sub-contractors, and team members
- Demonstrated knowledge of analyzing and interpreting complex construction management contracts
- Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills with a professional, respectful and positive presentation style
- Team player, collaborative with the highest level of integrity
- Bilingual Spanish and English
