We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Distribution Inspector to oversee and inspect electrical distribution projects.
The ideal candidate will ensure that all distribution installations, upgrades, and maintenance activities are performed in accordance with utility standards, safety protocols, and regulatory requirements.
This role is essential for maintaining the reliability and safety of the electrical distribution network, ensuring compliance with design specifications, and facilitating communication between contractors and project teams.
Key Responsibilities :
- Field Inspections : Conduct on-site inspections of electrical distribution lines, substations, and related infrastructure to ensure compliance with design plans, utility standards, and local regulations.
- Project Monitoring : Monitor the progress of distribution projects, including new installations, upgrades, repairs, and maintenance.
Identify any issues and ensure timely completion of work.
- Quality Assurance : Verify that materials, equipment, and work procedures meet the required quality standards, safety guidelines, and electrical codes (e.g., NESC).
- Documentation & Reporting : Prepare detailed reports on project status, inspection results, and any non-conformance issues.
Maintain accurate records of inspections, permits, and compliance activities.
- Contractor Coordination : Collaborate with contractors, project managers, and internal teams to resolve technical issues, provide guidance on standards, and ensure projects meet quality and safety expectations.
- Safety Compliance : Ensure all field work is performed in compliance with OSHA and utility-specific safety guidelines.
Immediately report any unsafe practices or conditions.
- Problem Solving : Identify potential construction or design issues during inspections and propose corrective actions.
- Stakeholder Communication : Act as a liaison between contractors, utility teams, and regulatory agencies to ensure clear communication on project scope, standards, and timelines. Qualifications :
- Education :
- Education :
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- A degree or certification in electrical engineering or a related field is a plus.
- Experience :
- 3+ years of experience in electrical distribution inspection, construction, or a related field.
- Previous utility experience is highly preferred.
- Skills & Knowledge :
- Strong understanding of electrical distribution systems, equipment, and materials.
- Familiarity with NESC and local electrical codes.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering drawings and specifications.
- Knowledge of OSHA and utility-specific safety guidelines.
- Ability to use inspection and testing equipment effectively.
- Certifications :
- Certification as a Distribution Inspector is preferred, but not required.
- Other Requirements :
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for reporting and collaboration.
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel to various job sites.
Preferred Qualifications :
- Experience with utility permitting and compliance processes.
- Proficiency in using inspection software or mobile apps for documentation.
