Responsibilities
- Theincumbent's primary role includes, but is not limited to, supervising andinstructing aquatic personnel in the duties and responsibilities of their work;
- trains newly assigned Lifeguards on the policies and procedures relating to themaintenance of order and discipline, emergency first aide and employee workrules;
- monitors the performance of Lifeguards during swimming pool operationalhours. The incumbent conducts in-servicetraining seminars, and enforces all safety rules and regulations pertaining tothe operation of a swimming pool;
- guards the swimming pool to direct watersafety, and prevent accidents; ensures that non-swimming participants stay inshallow water;
maintains order and discipline of participants in pool. Gathers information and maintains variouswritten records relating to pool operations, maintenance and cleaning of pooland pool equipment.
Treats pool water tomaintain proper chemical balance.Assists in planning special activities and programs.
Minimum Qualifications
Education Graduation from high school (or G.E.D.). Experience Two (2) years of experience as a Lifeguard at an aquatic facility.
Two (2) years of teaching or coaching in the aquatic field may substitute for lifeguard experience.
Certifications
Mustpossess and maintain current and valid certificates in Lifeguarding AND FirstAid and CPR / AED for the Professional Rescuer / Instructor or successor coursesoffered by the American Red Cross.
Mustmaintain all certifications required by state, federal and local lawsin order to practice and teach lifeguard skills as a term and condition ofcontinued employment.
Within 90 days of hire, MUST obtain and maintain Water Safety Instructor (WSI) certification as a term and condition of continued employment.
License Requirements
Must possess a valid driver’s license at time of appointment and maintain thereafter as a term and condition of continued employment.
