Role Description
This is a full-time on-site role for a Quality Assurance Manager at Gills Onions in Oxnard, CA. The Quality Assurance Manager will be responsible for day-to-day tasks related to ensuring the quality and safety of fresh-cut onion products.
This includes implementing and maintaining quality control systems, conducting inspections and audits, analyzing data, identifying areas for improvement, and coordinating with cross-functional teams to implement corrective actions.
Responsibilities
- Manage food safety and QA programs to ensure FDA / FSMA compliance
- Facility regulatory and customer requested audits; serve as the SQF practitioner
- Act as the recall co-coordinator; perform routine mock recall scenarios
- Design, implement, and document procedures for process control, process improvement, testing and inspection (HACCP, SOPs and GMPs)
- Manage finished product testing and Hold and Release program
- Review and maintain supplier approval documentation
- Maintain data in customer quality portals (Food Log IQ, Azzule, etc.)
- Present training programs including GMP, HACCP, and food safety training
- Perform risk assessments for packaging, chemicals and raw materials used
- Manage customer complaints and identify and implement corrective actions
- Motivate, lead and direct the microbiology and QA departments
- Lead internal audits to ensure regulatory, customer and corporate policy conformance
- Create and implement finished product specifications in accordance with customer needs and requirements

- Experience with implementing and maintaining quality control systems
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams
- Knowledge of food safety regulations and certifications
- Experience in the fresh produce or food processing industry is a plus
- Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent work experience
- Must have a flexible schedule and the ability to work weekends when necessary
