Job Title : Automotive Safety and Compliance Manager

Location : Smyrna, TN

Shift : 7 : 30 AM - 5 : 00 PM

Salary : Up to $80,000 (Negotiable)

Position Overview :

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced EH&S Manager to join our team in Smyrna, TN. This role is crucial for ensuring environmental, health, and safety compliance within our automotive manufacturing facility.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in automotive JIT (Just-In-Time) manufacturing, machine safety certification, and worker’s compensation claims management.

The role involves providing hands-on support, managing EH&S programs, and leading safety initiatives to maintain a safe and compliant work environment.

Key Responsibilities :

EH&S Leadership : Direct the development and implementation of environmental, health, safety, and security programs.Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations and standards, including OSHA and EPA requirements.

Provide leadership in safety practices and risk minimization strategies.

Program Management : Establish and monitor organizational goals, objectives, policies, and procedures for EH&S programs.

Develop, manage, and review annual EH&S budgets; perform cost analyses as needed.Review and analyze safety data to devise risk reduction programs.

Safety Training and Compliance : Coordinate OSHA and other required training programs to minimize employee injuries and lost work time.

Advise on and implement policies related to safety and security management.

  • Regulatory and Technical Guidance : Stay updated on regulatory developments and legislative agendas.Develop and implement company EH&S policies and procedures, advising on the design and construction of facilities related to EH&S issues.
  • Worker’s Compensation Management : Oversee all worker’s compensation claims and participate in reviewing litigation.
  • Interdepartmental Coordination : Serve as an advisor to the engineering department on safety considerations related to facility design and construction.

Provide technical guidance and leadership to personnel.

Miscellaneous Duties : Perform additional job-related duties as assigned.Travel as required for business needs.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities :

  • Interpersonal Skills : Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Regulatory Knowledge : In-depth knowledge of federal, state, and local EH&S regulations, including OSHA standards and EPA regulations.
  • Program Development : Ability to develop, implement, and enforce safety programs and protocols.
  • Leadership : Experience in leading safety initiatives and supervising teams.
  • Technical Expertise : Background in technical engineering or maintenance is advantageous.
  • Communication : Ability to convey technical information to non-technical personnel and deliver presentations effectively.
  • Budget Management : Proficiency in budget preparation and fiscal management.
  • Risk Management : Knowledge of insurance, loss control theory, and risk management related to facility design and operations.

Qualifications :

  • Certification : Certified Safety Professional (CSP) preferred.
  • Experience : Proven experience in a safety role within an automotive JIT manufacturing environment, such as EH&S Manager, Safety Coordinator, or Safety Specialist.
  • Education : Relevant technical engineering or maintenance background is beneficial.
  • Training : Basic OSHA 30 / 511 OSHA Course required.
  • Facility Certification : Experience with ISO 14001 certified facilities and associated EPA regulations.
