This position reports to the Director of Communication and Brand Strategy and is responsible for supporting key public relations, writing, and communications initiatives.
The role involves assisting in the development and execution of crisis communication content and planning and implementing strategic media and public relations campaigns to enhance the institution’s visibility and reputation.

Principal Accountabilities Media Relations :
- Develop press releases and persuasive pitches to garner media attention.
- Build and maintain relationships with journalists and media outlets.
- Monitor daily news to stay informed about relevant media coverage and trends.
- Work with faculty members to develop and pitch stories to newspapers and magazines nationwide.
- Contribute to the development of communication plans that align with the institution’s strategic goals.
- Oversee media relations-related vendors and monitoring systems.
Content Creation :
- Create written communications, ensuring accuracy, consistent voice and tone, brand integrity, and adherence to the University’s brand positioning and message pillars.
- Produce press releases, web content, and other communications.
Crisis Communication :
Assist in developing and executing crisis communication plans and prepare and disseminate timely and accurate information during crises.
Influencer Campaigns :
- Plan and implement Bryant’s influencer campaigns, identifying and engaging key influencers to promote the institution’s programs, events, and achievements.
- Track the success of these campaigns through analytics.
Event Support :
Assist in planning and promoting key institutional events, such as press conferences, public lectures, and community outreach programs.
Ensure effective communication and media coverage for these events.
Stakeholder Engagement :
Engage with internal and external stakeholders, including faculty, staff, students, alumni, and community partners, to foster positive relationships and enhance the institution’s public image.
Analytics and Reporting :
- Utilize analytics to evaluate the effectiveness of various public relations campaigns.
- Create monthly and annual reports to measure campaign success.
Other Duties :
Perform other duties as assigned to support the overall communications and public relations strategy.
Qualifications The ideal candidate will have strong writing and editing skills, experience in media relations and influencer marketing, and the ability to handle crisis communications effectively.
The candidate should be proactive, detail-oriented, and capable of working in a fast-paced environment. The position requires an undergraduate degree with a minimum of 5-10 years of demonstrated experience and success in public relations and digital communications, including utilization of social media and email marketing platforms as a public relations tool.
The ideal candidate will be a resourceful and highly skilled public relations professional with excellent writing, storytelling, and media relations ability.
Requires proficiency in developing creative press releases and media pitches that align with the University’s strategic priorities and garner media attention.
Must have excellent project management skills, timeline management, and analytics skills to assess media impact and measure designated key performance indicators (KPIs).
Ability to balance multiple priorities in a rigorous, fast paced, environment. Higher education experience is preferred.
