Job Description :
Director II- Under the general direction of the Director of Regional Administrative Services (RAS), administers and directs programs for a geographic area designated by Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC).
As RAS Regional Director in the geographic area, employs appropriate organizational and management skills to carry out policies, procedures, and standards.
Accountable for the quality of management employed in carrying out this mission. Performs complex managerial work providing direction and guidance in strategic operations and planning for both the financial and business divisions of the regional RAS team.
Plans, assigns, and supervises the work of others. Manages all aspects of the budget, including budget requests, monitoring of budget, allocation and expenditures of funds.
Develops and maintains working relationships with internal leaders, community leaders, advisory groups, advocacy groups, and elected officials including county judges and state legislators.
Works under minimal supervision, with extensive latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. Essential Job Functions :

10%) Supervises unit / staff including planning work schedules, monitoring output, and ensuring compliance with policies and procedures.

10%) Directs or coordinates the activities of units (for example, budgeting, time and labor, data processing, fiscal, contracts, property management, complaint investigations, daily operations).
10%) Interacts with staff or customers to discuss results of special reviews, internal audits, research studies, forecasts, and modeling exercises to provide direction and guidance to resolve issues.
5%) Analyzes current / potential effect of current / proposed legislation, regulations, policies, or court rulings on agency operations.
Knowledge Skills Abilities :
Knowledge of local, state, and federal laws and regulations relevant to program area; and of the principles and practices of public administration and management.
Knowledge of facilities management principles and related state and federal policies, rules and requirements.
