Are you passionate about promoting a safer, restorative, respectful, and inclusive campus environment? We’re seeking a dedicated Student Conduct Coordinator to join our team at the Center for Student Rights and Responsibilities.

In this role, you’ll play a crucial part in ensuring a fair and supportive community, and make meaningful impact on campus life.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Investigate alleged violations of the California State University Student Code of Conduct (Title V, Section 41301 of the California Code of Regulations).
  • Collaborate with faculty, staff, students, and community members to address academic and non-academic behaviors.
  • Make informed decisions based on thorough investigations.
  • Represent the University in matters related to student conduct.

Position Information

  • Full-time, permanent / probationary, role offering comprehensive benefits.
  • This position is designated exempt under FLSA and is not eligible for overtime compensation.
  • Standard work hours are Monday - Friday, 8 : 00 a.m. to 4 : 30 p.m., but may vary based on operational needs.
  • The individual hired into this role will work on campus at SDSU in San Diego.

Education and Experience

Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university in a related field, including or supplemented by upper division or graduate course work in counseling techniques, interviewing, and conflict resolution where such are job-related.

Possession of these knowledge and abilities is typically demonstrated through the equivalent of three years of progressively responsible professional student services work experience.

One year in the program area to which assigned may be preferred but is not required.

A master’s degree in Counseling, Clinical Psychology, Social Work, or a directly related field may be substituted for one year of experience.

A doctorate degree and the appropriate internship or clinical training in counseling or guidance may be substituted for the three years of experience for positions with a major responsibility for professional career or personal counseling.

Key Qualifications

  • Working experience in a highly diverse student environment.
  • Thorough knowledge of federal and state laws and regulations as they pertain to student conduct actions, including FERPA.
  • Experience working with the Maxient data management system or similar platforms.
  • General knowledge of research and interview techniques; and of the principles of individual and group behavior.
  • Demonstrates counseling-based / counseling-related skills.
  • Ability to obtain factual and interpretative information through interviews.
  • Ability to collect, compile, analyze and evaluate data and make verbal or written presentations based on these data.
  • Demonstrated oral communication skills and ability to follow up with other departments and personnel to ensure accuracy of information.
  • Experience in effectively engaging with individuals exhibiting strong emotions, guiding them towards understanding and accepting disciplinary procedures.
  • Knowledge of and demonstrated experience in legal and ethical student disciplinary practices.

Compensation and Benefits

Starting salary upon appointment is not expected to exceed $5,276 per month.

Salary placement is determined by the education, experience, and qualifications the candidate brings to the position, internal equity, and the hiring department’s fiscal resources.

CSU Classification Salary Range : $5,276 - $7,517 per month.
