Optomi, in partnership with a leading health medical center, are in search for a Senior Network Engineer to join their team in Greenville, North Carolina.
This candidate would be going into the office 2x a week in the clients Greenville, North Carolina office. This would be a full time opportunity with the client.

Position Summary
- The Network Engineer IV position designs, installs, maintains, and evaluates network systems and communications. Troubleshoots the most complex network issues involving various factors.
- Leads network architecture design conversations, feasibility and cost studies. Must have extensive knowledge of internet, routers, switches, firewalls, etc.
and advise / instruct other team members.
- Leads large scale network projects and assist lower-level engineers.
- Considered a specialist on complex technical and business matters. Work is highly independent.
- May assume a team lead role for the workgroup and fill in for the manager. Lead root-cause analysis or production of After Action Review (AAR) of IS issues as needed.
- Develop plans to perform maintenance activities, including IOS updates & security patching.
- Recognize and be a leader in all aspects of security for our network. Work with Security Operations to insure we protect our data and are compliant.
- Participate in on-call support as needed by the business, to 24x7 critical infrastructure operations.
Responsibilities
- Architect, design and build solutions with redundancy, stability and fault tolerances in mind.
- Establishes a two-year roadmap and documented plan of dependencies of upcoming system upgrades for technology supported directly or indirectly by team.
- Leads cross functional teams in the evaluation, testing, and implementation of defect patches, system upgrades and releases according to the Information Services support model and change control procedures.
- Collaborate and promote further use of testing automation tools to other teams to reduce labor effort to perform unit or integrated testing time.
- Leads on the formulation and implementation of strategy. Applies the highest level of leadership skills. Deep understanding of the industry and the implications of emerging technologies for the wider business environment.
Contributes to the implementation of policy and strategy. Creatively applies a wide range of technical and / or management principles.
- Initiates and assists in managing the technical aspects of the work across teams.
- Actively manage risk associated with compliance, classification, security and business rules affecting our data.
- Takes a leading role in promoting security throughout own area of responsibilities and collectively in the organization.
- Plans and designs security solutions and / or capabilities that enable the organization to ensure the confidentiality, integrity and availability of services throughout own area of responsibilities.
- Responsible for ensuring identified security vulnerabilities, misconfigurations, or excess permissions for systems are corrected.
Able to document corrective action plans for non-compliant systems.
- Provides leadership and best practices in area of expertise through presentations, publishing, teaching / training others and promoting continuous learning and improvement throughout the team.
- Deep knowledge of ITIL including Service Value System and uses to align with operational and IS priorities, objectives and drivers.
Understanding of the role IS plays in enabling the operational objectives.
- Leads team is evaluating ongoing complex problem and developing plan including new procedures and communications addressing recurring quality issue.
- Able to present controversial or complex information to large, diverse audiences in a meaningful, understandable way. Uses excellent negotiation skills to come to consensus.
Communicates proactively with customers, peers and management. Accepts and continuously shares constructive feedback.
Minimum Requirements
- High school diploma (or equivalent) or higher is required. Bachelor's degree or higher in computer science or engineering or its equivalent is preferred.
- Requires 7+ years of related network experience. Healthcare industry preferred. At least 5 years of experience providing enterprise-managed network services (i.
e. Router, Switch, BGP, QoS, VoIP). Cloud experience required. In-depth knowledge of datacenter technologies, such as OTV and VXLAN.
- CCNP with at least one other active certification is required.
- CCIE is strongly preferred.
- Advanced security certification such as CISSP is strongly preferred.
