The Student Services Specialist Sr. provides department administrative support and direct academic advisement to students.

The position requires coordination of department process workflows, leadership to part-time staff, and service as the primary advisor for the front service area.

Additionally, the role requires the use of critical problem solving, policy interpretation, and holistic institutional knowledge to resolve more complex student situations.

Essential Functions

60% - Provide department administrative support, including but not limited to : assign responsibility for responding to emails, phone calls, and form completion to team members, maintain advising resources, compile department, student, and / or program data, provide guidance and support to front service area part-time staff, critical evaluation of department process and suggestions for improvement. referring,

30% - Provide professional-level academic advising to students in-person and / or by email, phone, or video. Provide guidance to students in various areas, including : choosing degree / certificate programs, exploring transfer pathways, deciding on courses, registering for classes, and understanding academic progress.

Use PeopleSoft and other advising technologies to create and analyze degree progress reports, update and adjust student records, perform prior credit unofficial evaluations, and process other student requests.

Represent the advising department to internal and external groups. Adhere to FERPA regulations.

10% - Researches and applies best practices aligned with NACADA professional standards. Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Associate's Degree from a regionally accredited institution and two years of student services or college teaching experience or experience assisting with educational program development and coordination, student advisement, financial aid, or related student development programs.

ORAn equivalent combination of the conferred degree and directly related full-time work experience as described above sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above, unless otherwise subject to any other requirements set forth in law or regulation, may be considered. Desired Qualifications

1. A bachelor's degree

2. Two (2) or more years' experience in student services at a college or university

3. Experience in front line customer service

4. Two (2) or more years' experience in career and / or academic advisement

5. Evidence of professional development in student services

6. Effective written skills as demonstrated by cover letter and resume

Special Working Conditions

May be required to work evenings and weekends.May be required to lift or carry up to 25 lbs.This position requires a physical presence on campus with possible partial remote work depending on business needs to best serve the students, department, and college. How to Apply
