Title : Facilities Specialist 2nd Shift

Location : Romeoville. IL

Key Accountabilities

Inspecting, diagnosing, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining the building and grounds of a food processing facility, including HVAC equipment and office facilities, within a USDA production environment.

Responsibilities

• Perform all assigned work while adhering to established standards for workmanship and safety.
• Ensure the safe and dependable operating condition of all tools and equipment in the facility.
• Assist with testing, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical equipment, including motors, starters, relays, timers, panels, breakers, conduit, and wiring (110 / 230 / 460 volt).
• Adhere to established safety programs (e.g., lockout / tagout, ladder safety).
• Communicate effectively at all levels within the maintenance and operating departments.
• Provide rapid response to equipment malfunctions or breakdowns.
• Maintain the building in compliance with city and fire regulations.
• Fix leaking pipes, hoses, and sinks; perform minor plumbing repairs.
• Scrape and paint fixtures.
• Change light bulbs and lighting fixtures.
• Assist in facility repairs as directed by management.
• Fulfill work orders for other departments.
• Troubleshoot minor electrical problems in the facility.
• Assist the wastewater department when needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned or volunteered for.

Skills, Experience & Qualifications

• Good language skills (verbal & written) to interpret procedures, comprehend instructions, and communicate effectively with others.
• Self-motivated, a self-starter, and able to work without close supervision in a team environment.
• Hardworking, dependable, safety, and quality-conscious.
• Valid Illinois Driver’s License preferred.
• High school degree or equivalent required.
• Proficient in reading, writing, and basic math.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems within a food (USDA or FDA) manufacturing environment.
• Available to work any shift as required.
• Able to stand or walk for long periods, bend and squat, walk around the facility, and lift at least 50 lbs.
• Proper and safe use of hand and power tools and working on machinery.
