The Senior Risk Management Specialist manages Triage’s safety programs, ensures regulatory compliance, manages corporate insurance policies, and promotes a culture of safety within the organization.

This role ensures that safety and risk management are integrated into all aspects of Triage’s operations, including our Omaha, Cincinnati, and remote locations.

This role aims to protect employees, reduce liabilities, and maintain compliance with safety regulations.

Core Functions and Responsibilities

  • Assist in the management of our business insurance lines, including renewals and administration, including General Liability Insurance, Property Insurance, Workers' Compensation Insurance, Professional Liability Insurance, Employment Practices Liability Insurance, etc.
  • Oversee and manage the worker compensation claims process, by effectively processing individual claims, provide employee timely and effective communication, maintain compliance and minimizes financial impact.
  • Ensure that workers' compensation claims are submitted accurately and promptly; gather necessary documentation, complete forms, and liaison with insurance carriers.
  • Monitor the status of claims, coordinate with insurance adjusters, and ensure that claims are handled efficiently throughout their lifecycle.
  • Act as a point of contact for employees who are injured on the job. Provide guidance on the claims process, benefits available, and steps to take during recovery.
  • Maintain compliance with federal and state workers' compensation laws and regulations. Ensure that all required reporting and documentation are completed correctly and submitted on time.
  • Keep accurate and up-to-date records of all workers' compensation claims, including medical reports, claim forms, and correspondence with insurance providers.
  • Assess the validity of claims and determine the appropriate level of compensation based on medical evidence and company policies.
  • Support senior leaders with insurance adjusters and legal representatives to negotiate settlements when necessary and ensure fair compensation for injured employees.
  • Review claims data to identify trends, common causes of injuries, and areas for improvement in safety protocols.
  • Design, implement, and maintain risk management processes and safety policies. Establish procedures to identify and address risks across the organization.
  • Create and maintain the Safety Manual. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations (e.g., OSHA) and industry standards.

Stay updated on regulatory changes and best practices.

  • Develop and deliver training programs on safety procedures, risk management, and emergency preparedness. Implement OSHA-mandated training as part of the onboarding process and conduct safety drills.
  • Lead and conduct regular safety audits and inspections of facilities and practices. Identify hazards, recommend improvements, and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
  • Develop and maintain emergency response plans, including evacuation and disaster recovery plans. Coordinate with emergency services and ensure organizational preparedness for emergencies.
  • Analyze safety and risk data to identify trends and areas for improvement. Prepare and present reports on safety performance, risk management efforts, and compliance to management.
  • Oversee the safety practices of external vendors and contractors to ensure they meet the organization’s standards. Manage certificates and coordinate with the insurance broker for renewals.

Requirements

Required Skills, Abilities, and Education

  • Understanding of Safety Regulations : In-depth knowledge of safety regulations and standards, such as OSHA, EPA, and other relevant local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Capability to prepare detailed incident reports and recommend corrective actions to prevent future occurrences.
  • High attention to detail to ensure accuracy in risk assessments, compliance documentation, and safety procedures.
  • Ability to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and stay updated on changes in laws and standards.
  • Skill in identifying, analyzing, and evaluating risks and hazards.
  • Ability to develop and implement effective risk mitigation strategies and safety protocols.
  • Proficiency in analyzing safety data, incident reports, and risk assessments to identify trends and areas for improvement.
  • Strong problem-solving skills to address safety issues and develop solutions based on data and analysis.
  • Ability to clearly convey safety policies, procedures, and risk management strategies to employees and management.
  • Assist with training programs on safety practices and emergency response.
  • Proficiency in investigating accidents and incidents to determine root causes and contributing factors.
  • Ability to manage multiple safety and risk management projects simultaneously, including audits, inspections, and training programs.
  • Familiarity with safety management software, risk assessment tools, and general office software (e.g., Excel, Word).
  • Knowledge of emergency response systems and safety equipment.
  • Ability to lead safety initiatives and influence a culture of safety within the organization.
  • Skill in working collaboratively with other departments, management, and external partners to implement safety and risk management strategies.
  • Expertise in developing and implementing emergency response plans and managing crisis situations effectively.
  • Strong decision-making skills to handle emergencies and unexpected safety issues.
  • Ability to identify opportunities for improving safety practices and risk management processes.
  • Willingness to adapt to new safety technologies, practices, and regulatory changes.

Work Schedule

In-office with flexibility to work from home with manager approval.
