Overview

To perform electrocardiogram as ordered by physician, accurately keep charges current and to supply to the appropriate physician for interpretation.

To maintain accurate and appropriate files and assist with exams as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Performs EKGs on ALL age groups as requested by the physician.
  • Performs GXTs on adolescent, adult and geriatric patients as requested by the physician.
  • Maintains McKesson files as outlined in the departmental policies and procedures.
  • Maintains clean and workable equipment and work area.
  • Flexible for helping to cover all shifts as needed.
  • Demonstrates cost-conscious behaviors by utilizing equipment and supplies efficiently.
  • Responds to "STAT" calls and "CODE 10" situations as defined in departmental policies.
  • Performs basic cardiac life support as needed.
  • Knows appropriate personnel to alert in emergency situations.
  • Displays a sense of responsibility and is observant of the patient in his / her care during the procedure.
  • Performs duties and responsibilities according to DCH policies, procedures, organization, and standards of care / practice.
  • Participates in Performance Improvement activities.
  • Aware of safety precautions as they relate to the age of the neonate, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patient.
  • Attends inservice programs, required training / education, and unit / department / service meetings.
  • Assist with the upkeep of supplies and equipment.
  • Assist with transportation of patients as needed.
  • Performs all assignments in a timely manner, establishes priorities of care and related assigned duties; effectively organizes work day.

DCH Standards :

  • Maintains performance, patient and employee satisfaction and financial standards as outlined in the performance evaluation.
  • Performs compliance requirements as outlined in the Employee Handbook
  • Must adhere to the DCH Behavioral Standards including creating positive relationships with patients / families, coworkers, colleagues and with self.
  • Requires use of electronic mail, time and attendance software, learning management software and intranet.
  • Must adhere to all DCH Health System policies and procedures.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High school graduate or equivalent with successful completion of on-the-job training for EKG and GXT.
  • Must be able to read, write legibly, speak and comprehend English.
