As a dedicated First Party FraudAnalyst, Senior you will be an individual contributor for the FirstParty Fraud team within Financial Crimes.

Leverages advanceunderstanding within Financial Crimes space and with team membersand can solution towards the strategic business direction.

You willtake ownership of small- and large-scale analyses or businessstrategy using innovative / quantitative analytical approaches.

Independently extract insights from data to design solutions withinthe Financial Crimes space through a range of data preparation,modeling, and visualization techniques, including predictiveanalysis, pattern recognition and / or Machine Learning.

Use keyskills include association rule learning, cluster analysis, anomalydetection, data analysis and visualization (e.

g., PowerBI,Tableau), object-oriented programming (Python, SAS). Understand thebusiness direction, environment and strategies for First PartyFraud, to identify and recommend solutions which influence thebusiness and inspire change.

Advocate for self and teammates toencourage the growth of direct and indirect peers toward continualtechnical and soft skill progression.

Ensures risks associated withbusiness activities are optimally identified, measured, supervised,and controlled in accordance with risk and compliance policies andprocedures.

We offer a flexible work environmentthat requires an individual to be in the office 4 days per week.This position can be based in one of the following locations : SanAntonio, TX, Plano, TX, Phoenix, AZ, Colorado Springs, CO,Charlotte, NC, or Tampa, FL.

Relocation assistance is not availablefor this position.

This position can also workremotely in the continental U.S. with occasional businesstravel.

The Opportunity

What you'll do :

  • Leveragesadvanced business, analytical and technical knowledge toparticipate or lead discussions with cross functional teams tounderstand and collaborate highly complex business objectives andinfluence solution strategies.
  • Appliesadvanced analytical techniques to solve business problems that aretypically medium to large scale with significant impact to currentand / or future business strategy.
  • Appliesinnovative and scientific / quantitative analytical approaches todraw conclusions and make 'insight to action' recommendations toanswer the business objective and drive the appropriatechange.
  • Translates recommendation intocommunication materials to effectively present to various levels ofmanagement.
  • Incorporates visualizationtechniques to support the relevant points of the analysis and easethe understanding for less technicalaudiences.
  • Identifies and gathers the relevantand quality data sources required to fully answer and address theproblem for the recommended strategy through testing or exploratorydata analysis (EDA).
  • Integrates / transformsdisparate data sources and determines the appropriate data hygienetechniques to apply.
  • Thoroughly documentsassumptions, methodology, validation and testing to facilitate peerreviews and compliance requirements.
  • Understands and adopts emerging technology that can affect theapplication of scientific methodologies and / or quantitativeanalytical approaches to problem resolutions.
  • Succinctly delivers analysis / findings in a manner that conveysunderstanding, influences various levels of management, garnerssupport for recommendations, drives business decisions, andinfluences business strategy.
  • Provides subjectmatter expertise in operationalizingrecommendations.
  • Remains informed on currentdata and analytics trends, (Ex : Cloud, Data Mining, Python, NeuralNetworks, Sensor data, IoT, Streaming / NRTdata)
  • Identifies opportunities to continue tolearn in the data and analytics space, whether informal (E.g.,Coursera, Udemy, Kaggle, Code Up, etc) or formal (E.

g.Certifications or advanced coursework).

Ensures risks associated with business activities are effectivelyidentified, measured, monitored, and controlled in accordance withrisk and compliance policies and procedures.

What you have :

Bachelor'sdegree in quantitative analytics field such as Economics, Finance,Statistics, Mathematics, Actuarial Sciences, Operations Research,Data and / or Business Analysis, Data Science, or other quantitativediscipline;

OR 4 years of related experience in statistics,mathematics, or quantitative analytics (in addition to the minimumyears of experience required) may be substituted in lieu ofdegree.

  • 6 years of data & analyticsexperience
  • a minimumof 4 years of data & analytics experience and up to 2 years ofprogressive functional business relevant experience within therespective industry of responsibility (i.

e. P&C, Bank, Finance,Marketing etc.) for a total of 6 years combinedexperience.

advanceddegree in quantitative analytics field such as Economics, Finance,Statistics, Mathematics, Actuarial Sciences, Operations Research,Data and / or Business Analysis, Data Science or other quantitativediscipline and 4 years of experience in data / analytics orfunctional business experience within the respective industry ofresponsibility (i.

e. P&C, Bank, Finance, Marketing,etc.).

  • Demonstrates advanced skills inmathematical and statistical techniques and approaches used todrive fact-based decision-making.
  • Advancedknowledge of data analysis tools, data visualization, developinganalysis queries and procedures in SQL, SAS, BI tools or otheranalysis software, and relevant industry data & methods andability to connect external insights to businessproblems.
  • Experience with new and emergingdata sets, and incorporation (data wrangling, data munging) intonew insights.

What sets youapart :

  • Previous First-party fraudstrategy experience.
  • Expertise with Model RiskManagement and associated documentation androutines.
  • Knowledge in at least one productarea with first-hand experience building strategies to preventfraud within that product utilizing the supportingtools.
  • Experienced in multiple codinglanguages ie : SQL / SAS / Python and versed in the use ofvisualization tools ie : Tableau.
  • Problemsolver whose developed strategies and rules independently solvingunique fraud attacks in inventive ways
  • Experience developing fraud related reporting and can interpretexisting reports to maintain fraud losses and identify variancefrom historical norms to target ongoing or futureattacks
  • Strong analytical and criticalthinking skills and a basic understanding ofstatistics.
  • Strong communication skills,attention to detail and passion forexcellence.
  • US military experience throughmilitary service or a military spouse / domesticpartner

Compensation : USAA has an effective process forassessing market data and establishing ranges to ensure we remaincompetitive.

You are paid within the salary range based on yourexperience and market data of the position. The actual salary forthis role may vary by location.

The salary range for this positionis : $109,130-$208,580 .

Employees may be eligible for pay incentives based on overallcorporate and individual performance and at the discretion of theUSAA Board of Directors.
