POSITION

The Department of Biological Science at CSU Fullerton invites applications for its Ecology and Organismal Biology Part-Time Lecturer Pool.

We welcome applications from individuals who are experienced and student-centered to teach in the following subject areas :

• General Biology (lecture or lab)
• Plant Biology (lecture or lab)
• Plant Ecology (lecture or lab)
• Marine Ecology (lecture or lab)
• Desert Ecology (lecture or lab)
• Coastal Ecology (lecture or lab)
• Mammalogy / Ornithology / Ichthyology (lecture or lab)

This is a pool of part-time lecturers for the department to draw on as necessary. Qualified applicants will be contacted when positions are available.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• A Masters or PhD degree in Botany, Ecology, Marine Biology, or a related field or equivalent experience.
• Prior teaching experience at the university level.
• Ability to interact and work effectively with a wide and culturally diverse range of students, including first-generation college students.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Significant teaching experience in working with diverse populations and fostering a collaborative, supportive, and inclusive environment.
• Relevant performance and professional experience.

ABOUT THE COLLEGE AND THE DEPARTMENT

The Department of Biological Science offers an undergraduate Bachelor's degree (B.S.) in Biological Science and a thesis-based Master of Science (M.S.) degree in Biology.

We are dedicated to educating the individual student using active-learning, inquiry-based approaches. Our program is distinctive in the region in the number of excellent opportunities that are available for faculty-mentored undergraduate research and a commitment to integrating teaching and research.

APPOINTMENT DATE AND ACADEMIC CALENDAR

The need for part-time faculty is greatest in Fall and Spring semesters. The Fall term begins in late August and ends in mid-December;

the Spring term runs from mid-January through the end of May.

APPOINTMENT AND SALARY

All part-time faculty appointments are made as Lecturers, under the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement. Initial appointments are for one semester only.

Anticipated hiring range depending on qualifications, not to exceed $5,925 per month.

PERFORMANCE EVALUATION

Regular performance evaluations of part-time lecturers are made by the department in accord with the faculty Collective Bargaining Agreement.
