Structural Apply Job Type Full-time Description
Martin / Martin, Inc. is looking for a Structural Engineer in Training (EIT) for our Bentonville, Arkansas office. This engineer will have the opportunity to work on a broad range of project types with many different structural materials.
This position will provide opportunities to gain experience in both new building structural design and existing building investigations and retrofits.
A typical work week can include engineering calculations, drawing development, Construction Administration tasks, and site visits.
This position allows for interactions with owners, architects, and contractors early in your career as you build relationships throughout the project life cycle.
While many of our projects are located in Arkansas, Martin / Martin’s national footprint provides opportunities to work on projects around the country.

EXAMPLES OF RESPONSIBILITIES
- Knowledge and use of computer design and CAD / BIM software
- Prepares details and calculations for project components and systems
- Learns about products and construction procedures
- Prepares and writes reports
- Provides field observation during construction
- Studies and applies building code and / or jurisdictional requirements
- Reviews shop drawings and product submittals
- Checks own work
- Coordinates work with other disciplines
- Acts proactively and proposes potential solutions to problems
- Works overtime, when necessary
- Other duties as assigned
WORKING CONDITIONS / SKILLS / ABILITIES
This position is primarily technical in nature and requires working inside and outside the office to complete a wide range of activities.
The following abilities are required :
- Move inside or outside the office and on non-ADA accessible construction sites
- Remain stationary for long periods of time
- Repetitive movement on tasks such as using a keyboard or mouse
- Carry, ascend, and descend a ladder
- Identify color
- Read, communicate, and document in English
- Determine and exchange accurate information
- Occasionally move or hold equipment weighing up to 50 pounds
- Investigative : Positions self in atypical environments and small, confined spaces
Requirements
Required Qualifications :
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an ABET accredited engineering curriculum in Architectural, Civil, Environmental, Construction, Structural, or related engineering field
- Has passed FE Examination
Desired Qualifications :
- Master's degree in engineering from an ABET accredited engineering curriculum in Architectural, Civil, Structural, or related engineering field
- Knowledge of building and material design codes
- Excellent time management and organizational skills
- Self-motivated and able to work independently for extended periods of time
- Strong written, technical, and interpersonal skills
- Committed to client service and a team-based approach
- Experience using Autodesk Revit to produce building construction documents
- Experience analyzing structures using RAM, SAP, ETABS, or RISA
- Construction field experience
- 0-2 years’ experience
- GPA of 3.5 or higher
