Job Description
DNV Maritime Region Americas is seeking an experienced Senior Ship Surveyor and Auditor to join our Houston FIS Station .
As a "Fleet in Service" Ship Surveyor based in Katy (Houston area), Tx. USA , you will be a member of a highly qualified team of surveyors and auditors in Houston FIS Station, serving Texas and Louisiana ports, offshore, and other ports and shipyards covered by Region America as needed.
This is a hybrid model role.
What You'll Do
- Attend vessels for surveys / audits,
- Ensure that the work or duties performed are in accordance with the Rules, Regulations, Instructions, Guidelines, and quality requirements of the organization and the instructions of the line management
- Work on-site surveys during dry-docking and in-service
- Work on major vessel conversions, alterations, or any technical matters involving all types of vessels
- Support other class activities when necessary
- Maintain the confidentiality of Clients' business, processes, designs, developments, and documentation at all times
- When applicable, to supervise the work of others and ensure that it is carried out as above and in an efficient and economical manner
- Communicate to line management at the earliest appropriate opportunity if in receipt of information that is important to the reputation or integrity of the organization
- Exhibit customer-oriented focus through promoting DNV, and by acting as a technical resource and support for customers
- Support in technical service management to local client
- Give training and mentoring to junior colleague

Qualifications
What is Required
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Marine Engineering, Naval Architecture or Mechanical Engineering with previous experience in Maritime Engineering or Master Mariner
- 5 - 10 years of relevant experience as a Ship Surveyor / Shipbuilding Engineer / Chief Engineer / Naval Artilect / Shipyard Engineer.
- Technical competencies : DNV or other IACS class society qualifications as class & statutory surveyor; ISM, MLC and ISPS auditor will be a plus.
- Understanding of class & statutory survey work and responsibilities is an advantage
- Hold a valid driver's license
- Eligible for TWIC
Skills & Abilities
- Language : English Speaking / Writing proficiency.
- Team player but able to work independently on surveys / audits,
- Strong customer service orientation and understanding of client needs
- Physical abilities necessary to perform regular functions of the job such as Working at Heights, climbing pilot ladders, crew boat launches in various local climate condition, Offshore trip by helicopter and in / out Confined Spaces.
- Availability to work outside normal working hours, if the job requires
