Position Summary Nuclear medicine technologists are direct patient caregivers. They perform dose preparation and administration functions for diagnostic and / or therapeutic purpose;

perform patient procedures, process, and enhance images, and prepare images for interpreting physician to view.

Performs diagnostic nuclear medicine, therapeutic nuclear medicine, PET scanning, cardiac stress lab functions, and radiopharmacy functions as required.

If a Nuclear Medicine Technologist is dual certified as RT(CT) or NMTCB(CT), may also perform diagnostic CT imaging as required by guidelines or physician order.

  • Exercises professional judgment in performance of services and maintains a demeanor complimentary to quality care.
  • Delivers appropriate care while recognizing patient conditions and ensuring successful completion of procedures.
  • Adheres to Orlando Health mission statements and strategic imperatives.
  • Performs all nuclear medicine dynamic, static and functional procedures required by specific studies.
  • Performs SPECT and SPECT CT imaging as required by guidelines or physician order.
  • Performs PET imaging on a rotational basis as outlined in written procedures or directed by interpreting physician, as required.
  • Performs all computer acquisition, and processing and documentation as required by procedure.
  • Performs quality control on all Nuclear Medicine instrumentation as outlined by written procedure or manufactures guidelines.
  • Orders and administers radiopharmaceuticals including positron emitters as required. Qualifications Licensure / Certification Must meet ONE of the following in totality : Maintains current certification as a Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist (CNMT) by the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB) OR Maintains current certification as an (ARRT) (N) American Registry of Radiology Technologists in Nuclear Medicine Must meet ALL of the following :
  • Maintains current Florida State License as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist
  • Maintains current BLS / HealthCare Provider certification. Graduate of an approved school of Nuclear Medicine Technology.
