Go to CAPPS Recruit to Sign In GENERAL DESCRIPTION : Performs routine (journey-level) consultative and technical assistance work in the Training Operations Division.
Work involves monitoring, developing, and implementing an equipment / inventory program and providing consultative and technical assistance to maintain equipment / inventory in compliance with the Divisions Project and Compliance Management Unit (PCM) policies and procedures.
Works under moderate supervision, with limited latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgement. The following Military Occupational Specialty codes are generally applicable to this position.
must fully complete the summary of experience to determine if minimum qualifications are met. ESSENTIAL DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES : 1.
Performs oversight and documentation for Trooper Training Unit (TTU) supplies and equipment ordering, receiving and distribution.
Issues equipment and assigns inventory numbers to assets following TOD policies and procedures. 2. Requisitions and order supplies, and equipment ensuring compliance with DPS and State guidelines and regulations.
Track requisitions, audit invoices, maintain related reports and files. 3. Disposes of surplus property and rotates equipment / inventory while complying with requirements for policies and procedures with procurement processes.
4. Assists in developing policy and procedure manuals for TTU and PCM that align with divisional needs and processes. 5.
Coordinates with and serves as liaison to internal program staff to explain and provide technical assistance on agency and program requirements for PCM Unit.
6. Assists in providing consultative services and technical assistance for agency programs. 7. Assists with the preparation of inventory records, reports, and specialized projects.
8. Assists with the review of program operations to identify areas quality improvement plans and processes. 9. May assist in preparing justifications for the implementation of procedural or policy changes.
10. Attend work regularly and observe approved work hours in accordance with agency leave and attendance policies. 11. Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications : GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS and REQUIREMENTS : Education Graduation from an accredited college or university with an Associates Degree in Liberal Arts, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
Experience Minimum of three (3) years experience performing progressively complex inventory management work to include purchasing of bulk and individual supplies, record keeping and ensuring regulatory compliance and deadlines are met.
Substitution Note : Additional work experience of the type described may be substituted for education on a year-for-year basis.
Licensure and / or Certification If driving is required, must possess a valid driver license from state of residence. Regulatory Knowledg Working knowledge of, or the ability to rapidly assimilate information related to TXDPS, State and Federal regulations, legislation, guidelines, policies and procedures.

Schedule and / or Remote / Telecommuting work and / or Travel Availability for after-hour, emergencies, and weekend work is required.
There is potential opportunity for telecommuting up to three (3) days per week. Which will be guided by the Training Operations Division remote work policy.

Driving requirements : Extensive (10%). State of Texas Benefits and Retirement Information : A DPS employee who is selected for a position in the same salary group and state title as their current position will be transferred with no salary change.
A DPS employee who is selected for a position in their current salary group with a new state title may receive an increase of no more than 3.
4% over their current salary regardless of posted salary. Salary is contingent upon qualifications and is subject to salary administration and budgetary restrictions.
