GENERAL SUMMARY :
Responsible for the assessment of respiratory patients with acute and chronic illnesses, to ensure delivery of clinically appropriate respiratory care procedures as prescribed by the medical staff for neonate, pediatric, adolescent and adult patients.
PRINCIPAL JOB FUNCTIONS :
1. *Commits to the mission, vision, beliefs and consistently demonstrates our core values.
2. *Performs routine and complex modalities of respiratory therapy independent of direct supervision.
3. *Demonstrates competency in technical skills related to the Respiratory Therapy department.
4. Completes low volume / high risk care independently.
5. Documents procedures in the patient record according to departmental / organizational standards.
6. *Develops, reviews, and revises patient plans of care as needed to provide optimal outcomes.
7. Regularly communicates with other patient care team members to exchange information regarding condition and progress of patient condition.
8. Maintains continuity of hospital services to ensure optimum and timely patient care interventions.
9. *Provides diagnostic procedures within the LRCP scope of practice, such as ABG's and Intubations.
10. Works within protocol guidelines and ensures all patients are receiving appropriate therapy.
11. Assists with patients needs as requested.
12. Helps to educate patients and family members on diseases and appropriate therapeutic interventions.
13. Works with nursing and other departments to educate on respiratory therapy procedures and treatments.
14. Maintains professional growth and development through seminars, workshops, and professional affiliations to keep abreast of latest trends in field of expertise.
15. Participates in meetings, committees and department projects as assigned.
16. Performs other related projects and duties as assigned.
Additional Information
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE :
Graduate of an AMA approved Respiratory Therapy Program and CRT or RRT credentials current with the NBRC required. RRT certification with the NBRC required within six months of hire.
Two years of ICU experience preferred.
OTHER CREDENTIALS / CERTIFICATIONS :
Basic Life Support (CPR) certification required. Bryan Health recognizes American Heart Association (for healthcare professionals), American Red Cross (for healthcare professionals) and the Military Training Network.
Certification in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required.
Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification required within three months of hire.
