THE ROLE
- The Senior Director provides vision and leadership throughout the North Puget Sound Service Area for continuous improvement of clinical and service quality outcomes;
- designs, implements and maintains systems ensuring integration of quality support across the Service Area leading to improved health outcomes;
integrates and promotes patient safety in partnership with Risk and Accreditation leaders. The senior director implements and maintains NPS needed infrastructure to support, maintain, and achieve overall Quality Improvement best practice standards and compliance in alignment with governing Providence Health System and North Division.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Provide leadership, strategic direction and support for clinical quality and safety in the North Puget Sound (NPS) Service Area through quality improvement, patient safety, and transformative care initiatives.
Coordinates with operational leaders to develop, implement and monitor systems of care, create a safe culture and to improve patient outcomes and decrease overall cost of care.
Champions a data-driven environment for clinical quality, patient safety, infection prevention and regulatory compliance across the system.
Partner with Patient Safety leaders to improve Culture of Safety with a focus on harm prevention and a reduction in adverse events.
Facilitate adoption of evidence-based best practices that advance and strengthen the organization.
Where possible, ensure that quality and safety program goals align with organizational financial goals.
Oversees, interviews, hires, trains, and evaluates all caregivers; counsels caregivers regarding employment and performance management in accordance with Human Resources policies;
ensures competency of all staff by conducting on-going regular reviews and skills assessments and provides action plans and timely, providing constructive feedback as needed.
Generates and analyzes reports to identify opportunities for continuous improvement by ministries; provides feedback, develops and implements action plans when appropriate.
Develops and monitors implementation of ministry specific goals / objectives and performance improvement processes in alignment with Providence Swedish North Division and Providence Health System.
Develops and maintains budget requirements and ensures compliance.
In Partnership with Risk Management leadership establish and maintain communications, process and practice to mitigate and communicate risk.
Supports the North Puget Sound Quality structure and related activities : Coordinates initiatives and Quality Strategic Plans established by PH&S System through-out Providence Regional Medical Center Everett in coordination with Divisional leadership and others as appropriate;
Maintains the Quality Plans / QAPI for NPS ministries, in alignment Division and System goals.
QUALIFICATIONS
Master's Degree in Nursing, Health Administration or similar (preferred)
Bachelor's Degree in Nursing, Healthcare Administration, Public Health or Similar area
Upon hire : Washington Registered Nurse License (Vendor Managed)
8 years of clinical nursing, preferably in Medical / Surgical, Critical Care, Intensive Care, or the Emergency Department
2 years of leadership in a quality Improvement Program
Knowledge of disease pathophysiology and drug utilization
PC / Systems literacy, including the Internet and MS office skills
Knowledge and experience in Patient Safety and application / adherence to HRO principals and process
Management of multiple priorities effective time management skills
Leadership and organizational skills along with critical, deductive reasoning, and problem solving skills
Effective written and verbal communication skills, including report writing and oral presentation skills
Capacity to work independently in a virtual office setting, or in a facility setting if required to travel for assignment
Understanding and ability to communicate documentation strategies
Capable of performing quality assessment / analysis
Overall knowledge and ability to drive operational metrics
Overall knowledge of the flow of the revenue cycle
Detail oriented and with strong analytical skills
Ability to assess, coach, train and develop talent
Ability to motivate and maintain effective working relationships with staff and all stakeholders
Demonstrates strength in both performance management and leadership development
Manage change while minimizing interruption at an operational and service level.
