Are you an experienced engineer seeking a career that combines professional achievement with a sense of purpose? The Iowa Department of Inspections, Appeals, and Licensing (DIAL) is seeking a highly motivated, skilled, solution-oriented, and enthusiastic professional to join our regulatory department and serve as an Environmental Engineer Senior within our Building and Construction Division!
As an Environmental Engineer Senior, you will work under the supervision of the Bureau Chief at our central office near Valley Junction in Des Moines, Iowa.
You will work with our Environmental Health and Contractor team to conduct plan reviews and perform inspections.
Responsibilities
You will be an integral member of our team, providing administrative program assistance to the department in support of the agency’s operations by :
- Reviewing plans for new and reconstructed pools and spas
- Conducting inspections of newly constructed or reconstructed pools and spas
- Supporting the department's strategic communications plan
- Providing support to other Environmental Health and Contractor programs as needed
- Utilizing metrics in the preparation of strategic recommendations
Minimum Qualifications
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's Degree in Environmental, Sanitary, Civil, Chemical, Nuclear, Mechanical, Industrial, Agricultural, or Public Health Engineering and three years of full-time professional work in environmental engineering;
or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Licensure as a Professional Engineer to practice in Iowa may be required at the option of the employing department within one year of employment.
