The College of the Environment has an exciting opening for an Associate Director for Advancement. This is a full-time, permanent position.
This Associate Director for Advancement (ADOA) is responsible for assisting in the planning, strategy-setting and execution of activities necessary to secure gifts and grants for the College of the Environment (CoEnv).
They will focus on raising increasing levels of private support for current use, endowment and capital purposes that benefits the College’s students, faculty, staff, and programs.
This role will work closely with the Senior Director for Advancement, the Associate Dean for Advancement, and University Advancement and unit colleagues to identify, engage, and solicit prospective major gift donors.
The ADOA will have assigned responsibility for oversight and coordination of fundraising programs in one or more academic departments.
What You Will Do :
Frontline Fundraising (60%) :
- Manage a portfolio of major gift prospects with an emphasis on Top 25 prospects. Develop and implement an engagement, solicitation and stewardship strategy for each assigned prospect.
- Work closely with unit colleagues as well as colleagues in Regional and International Giving, Principal Gifts, Planned Giving, and Corporate & Foundation Relations to prepare and execute engagement and solicitation strategies for assigned prospects.
- Keep accurate and complete records using the UW’s donor database and ensure donors receive appropriate and timely acknowledgements for their gifts.
- Prepare written and verbal proposals, case statements, concept / informational materials, endowment agreements, gift illustrations and other materials needed to secure gifts and grants.
Strategy Development (20%) :
- Provide strategic leadership and support to assigned academic units, including designing and implementing strategies and efforts needed to sustain and increase major gift and alumni support.
- Coordinate the participation of administrators, academic leaders, volunteers, and development staff in fundraising strategies, efforts and events.
- Develop and implement strategies to engage diverse communities and individuals that have not otherwise been approached.
Program Development and Management (20%) :
- Create an annual personalized work plan for accomplishing specific goals and objectives in coordination with the College’s articulated goals and priorities.
- Participate in the improvement and development of policies and procedures relating to the Advancement program.
- Collaborate with the College’s Advancement colleagues, including the Marketing & Communications team, in the creation of marketing materials targeting a diverse range of constituents.
Other duties as assigned
Minimum Requirements :
A bachelor’s degree and at least five years of experience in development / advancement or a related field.

- Fundraising experience, preferably in a higher education setting.
- General knowledge of planned giving options.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite.

What You Can Expect :
- Some evening and weekend hours are required, as necessary.
