The Center for Human Development (CHD) is seeking a Desktop / Field Support Technician to join our dynamic IT team. This is a full-time, on-site position located at our corporate office in Springfield, MA, with travel requirements to various CHD locations and occasional evening and weekend work.
Role : Desktop / Field Support Technician – Information Technology Department
This key role provides support to CHD staff and collaborates with the helpdesk and network team. Essential functions include :
- Hardware support : Installing, configuring, and maintaining end-user devices such as laptops, desktops, tablets, printers, monitors, docking stations, scanners, and phones. Tasks range from troubleshooting and repairs to re-imaging and optimizing hardware / software networking products.
- Deploying, installing, and configuring software via Intune on client devices.
- Providing software break / fix services and managing replacement of non-warranty assets, coordinating with vendors for in-warranty failures.
- Configuring and supporting end users on mobile computing platforms.
- Software support : Installing, configuring, troubleshooting, and fixing software issues.
- Printer support : Installing and configuring printers across CHD branches and endpoints.
- Patch management and vulnerability remediation : Installing security patches to address vulnerabilities.
- Basic networking knowledge : Switches, routers, IP configurations, access points.
- Knowledge of Active Directory security groups and policies.
- Testing and certifying PCs, managing group policies, and performing installs, moves, adds, and changes.
- Service management : Using ticketing tools to track and update support tickets.
- Performing root cause analysis, implementing fixes, documenting resolutions, and creating knowledge base articles.
- On-call support on a rotating basis.
- Travel across MA and CT to support end users; valid driver's license required.
- Occasional evening or weekend work for maintenance or critical issues.
Requirements :
Bachelor's degree or 2-3 years of relevant work experience.Preferred certifications : CompTIA A+ and / or Network+.Proficiency with Active Directory, Group Policy, and network configurations.Experience with endpoint security solutions, scripting (e.g., PowerShell), and deployment tools (SCCM, MDT).Strong communication skills for technical and non-technical support.Professional demeanor and customer service focus.Ability to pass background checks and hold a valid driver's license.Success Factors :
