We are seeking an experienced HazMat Specialist to join our team in Pompano Beach, FL. Excellent starting wage and benefits package, including 401k Company Match and Profit Sharing!
Responsibilities include :
Daily review of items to identify any Haz Mat requirements or shipping restrictions. This requires going to the vendor website and searching for the data.
Downloading the SDS and input the data into AS400. Verification of non-hazmat restrictions to systematically restrict where needed.
If there are no measurements in the system data must be acquired either from DC floor or another location with the item updates.
Responsible as the point person for LNS to solve all issues regarding Hazmat and shipping restrictions.
Qualifications :
- Knowledge of Hazmat regulations, such as 49 CFR. This includes knowledge of labeling, documentation, and packaging requirements.
- Must be knowledgeable with records pertaining to hazardous materials to include shipping manifests, bills of lading, and safety data sheets (SDS).
- Be the SME for the warehouses when it comes to markings and hazard labels.
- Hazmat certification
- This job will require a deep knowledge of state, Federal, and Canadian regulations. To include doing other tasks such as inventory management, export, and taxes.
- Collaborative, work well with others and have a strong sense of teamwork.
- Knowledge of warehousing, to include new item setup and inventory procedures.
- IMDG Ocean Shipping certification preferred.
- Ability to multitask, working multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
EDUCATION AND / OR EXPERIENCE :
- Knowledge typically obtained with a high school or equivalent diploma.
- Microsoft Office
- AS400 preferred
- Must have dependable attendance and be a team player.
- Prior forklift certification or willing to become forklift certified.
- Basic computer skills helpful.
- Prior warehouse experience a plus!

WORKING CONDITIONS :
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, bend, stoop, balance and use arms and hands to reach, pull, push, clasp and move a variety of materials.
Walkways are concrete and / or metal grating. The employee must lift and / or move up to 50 pounds occasionally and up to 20 lbs frequently.
Employee may be exposed to high, precarious places. The warehouse environment can be hot (or cold) and dusty.
