Reach for Excellence is a 501(c)3 independent non-profit that empowers determined learners and expands their possibilities in the classroom, in the community, and in life.
Reach for Excellence is housed on the Marist School campus in Atlanta.
Summary
The Development Director is responsible for directing and implementing strategies to raise annual support through campaigns, appeals, and special events from various sources.
This role assists the Executive Director in executing the vision of Reach for Excellence.
SCOPE OR RESPONSIBILITY
This position is responsible for the research and identification of prospective donors; determining overall fundraising strategy;
cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of donors; special event planning; and gift reporting and acknowledgment. The Development Director assists the Executive Director with communications and public relations.
Each year, the Development Director is responsible for securing approximately $700,000 in private support and expanding local and state visibility through effective marketing and outreach.
Essential Functions
- Fund and Resource Development : Design, implement, and evaluate annual fundraising strategies.
- Donor Relations and Stewardship : Engage board members and volunteers to develop relationships with existing and prospective donors.
- Gift processing overview : Responsible for receiving, processing, and acknowledging gifts.
- Donor Solicitation : Solicit donations from individuals and families.
- Database : Maintain a database of fundraising activities.
- Grant proposals : Draft grant proposals and reports to philanthropic organizations.
- Organize Special Events : Plan and execute special events.
- Board Relations : Serve as the Board Secretary, taking notes and drafting meeting minutes.
- Communication and Marketing : Assist with marketing and public relations efforts.
- Budget & Finance : Assist in creating the annual budget and review monthly reports.
- Other administrative duties : Collaborate to ensure effective coordination of fundraising and programmatic efforts.
Qualifications
Degrees and Experience
- Three to five years of fundraising experience with a nonprofit organization.
- A four-year college degree.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills and a positive attitude.
- High commitment to the mission of Reach for Excellence.
- Strong organizational and project management skills.
- Comfort with using data in assessing program outcomes.
- Ability to provide direction and motivation to others.
- Openness to new ideas and their implementation.
- Donor-centered approach with a commitment to excellent customer service.
- Ability to work cooperatively to achieve common goals.
Technical Knowledge
- Knowledge of and proficiency in the use of databases and software.
- Experience with online research tools and grant application portals is a plus.
