Job Summary :
The Ceded Reinsurance Accounting Team of Everest Insurance, a member of the Everest Re Group, Ltd. is looking for a Vice President, Head of Ceded Reinsurance Accounting North America for our growing Insurance business.
This role will report to the Global Head of Ceded Reinsurance Accounting and the North America CFO and will be based in Warren NJ, working a hybrid schedule of 3 days in the office and 2 days remote.
This leader should have strong team-building and problem-solving skills, as well as a focus on effective execution. This role is critical to the ever-growing insurance segment and will have a strong influence within the finance function.
Responsibilities include but not limited to :
Oversee the overall ceded reinsurance accounting functions and processes of Everest Insurance - North America®
Liaise closely with other leaders of Finance, Ceded Reinsurance, Corporate Underwriting, Claims and Insurance Leadership on various aspects of Ceded Reinsurance Accounting functions
Preparation and review of the quarterly and annual statutory schedules required by the NAIC including managing the annual Schedule F process.
Drive improvements to the Ceded Reinsurance accounting system to facilitate seamless / efficient processes in handling complex reinsurance.
Own and drive robust quality assurance process for treaty and facultative contracts
Develop and manage ceded reinsurance performance metrics and KPIs that will be shared with key stakeholders.
Hands-on supervision of a talented team performing functions including but not limited to :
Setting up treaty and facultative reinsurance contracts in the ceded reinsurance accounting system.
Preparation, issuance and reconciliation of reinsurer / broker accounts including monthly / quarterly bordereaux, reinsurer statements, billing, loss recoveries etc.
Timely management and settlement of ceded premiums and collection of ceded losses.
Monitor financial stability of reinsurers, analyze security requirements, and maintain appropriate level of financial security;
maintenance of Letters of Credit / Trust Funds.
Interpretation of complex ceded reinsurance contracts to ensure the accuracy of financials and account statements.
Generating and review of general ledger journal entries, account reconciliations.
Qualifications, Education & Experience :
Minimum 15 years of experience in Ceded Reinsurance accounting and at least 5 years of experience managing Ceded Reinsurance Accounting operations or similar function.
ARe or CPCU credential preferred.
Strategic thinker; strong leadership skills.
Strong problem-solving skills, change management experience, and positive attitude.
Capable of executing change and influencing others to adopt new practices.
Results-oriented mind, detailed and proven track record of driving ideas and projects to completion.
Expert level knowledge of ceded reinsurance accounting practices and processes and reinsurance contract language.
Robust knowledge and experience in quarterly and annual financial close process.
Knowledge of different forms and structures for treaty / Facultative reinsurance.
Strong project management skills - extraordinarily well-organized.
Strong analytical and technical communication skills (verbal and written).
Strong technology skills.
Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or another related field.
