Orthopedic Cast Technologist - Bilingual preferred

Job Description
Under the Supervising Physician and Clinic Manager, the Orthopedic Technologist will independently provide various casting services as ordered by the physicians.
Essential Functions
- Independently provides casting services as ordered by the physicians to include :
- Assisted fracture reductions,
- Applications of casts and splints,
- Application of taping, dressing changes,
- Removal of suture and staples,
- Wound care, wound assessment, wound debridement, wound VAC application and removal,
- Fitting of pre-fabricated braces,
- Crutch & cane training,
- Adjustment and removal of supportive hardware (pins & ex-fix devices),
- Provide education and training on cast / splint care, pre-fabricated brace application, and dressing changes per physician orders.
- Prepares casting materials; maintains adequate supply of equipment and materials; maintains a clean and safe working environment.
- Performs other duties, such as :
- Traction frame setup and maintenance ; prepares equipment needed for traction; assists physicians by placing patients in traction;
checks and adjusts traction appliances, as necessary.
- Assisting the providers with minor procedures
- Documenting any pertinent information into patients' electronic records system to include any procedures performed on patients, time-outs, education provided, and charge appropriate charge entry.
- Assisting with all aspects of front office management, appointment scheduling, patient check-in, authorizations, accurate billing, payment processing, and other required paperwork.
- Back office duties require equipment management, environmental care functions, cleaning / disinfecting the environment and performs other related duties as required.
- Assisting in the daily operations of the Orthopedic Clinic.
Skills :
- Basic knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology.
- Ability to work independently, problem solve and prioritize demands.
- The ability to communicate clearly and explain continued care with patients and staff in a friendly, courteous, and cooperative manner.
Qualifications
- Graduate of a NAOT (National Association of Orthopaedic Technologists) certified program (*)
- Possession and maintenance of a BLS (American Heart Association Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support).
- 1 year Orthopedic Cast Technician or Technologist required.
- MA (Medical Assistant) certification preferred, but not required.
May consider relevant work experience in lieu of training program)
