Staff Accountant

- Due to significant growth, they are looking to bring on a Staff Accountant to work on a contract-to-hire basis

- Schedule : 8 am-5 pm M-F, 100% in office in Linthicum, MD. Hours can be flexible depending on the candidate's needs
- Reports directly to the Accounting Manager
Job Duties :
- Maintain assigned general ledger accounts
- Perform bank reconciliations monthly and handles inquiries from banks
- Reconcile cash disbursement accounts, payroll, customer accounts, and other financial accounts
- Verify accounts payable invoices are paid and ensure payments are charged to the proper accounts
- Assist auditors by gathering necessary documents in order to complete the annual audit
- Coordinate with the software vendors to maintain accounting software systems and recommend updates to enhance the accounting software
- Accurately prepare tax reports
- Assist with payroll as needed
- Performs other related duties as assigned
Qualifications for the Staff Accountant :
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field is highly preferred
- 3+ years of accounting experience required
- Non-profit experience is highly preferred
- Experience using Microsoft Dynamics Great Plains is a plus
- Proficient Excel skills required
- Strong knowledge of GAAP
- Knowledge of general financial and cost accounting
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
