Stimson is seeking a Sales Support Specialist responsible for supporting the company’s sales efforts to effectively manage, sell and report on lumber and panel product sales.
The company’s consignment lumber business will be the primary focus of this position with specific focus on planning, replenishment and reporting of consignment inventory and the functions revolving around sales support.
Beginning pay for this position is targeted between $72,000-$85,000 depending on the skills you bring.
Your accountabilities
As a Lumber Sales Support Specialist , you will play a crucial role in supporting our sales team by managing administrative tasks, forecasting, demand planning, oversight of shipping schedule, order fulfillment and inventory control of distribution centers and ensuring seamless communication with customers.
In addition, you will provide customer support in maintaining back-end systems and product data warehouse maintenance and setup of products.
Examples of the types of activities you will do :
Customer Service
- Work with customers to provide general sales information, inventory, and order management.
- Maintain data warehouse information for multiple platforms that support the business.
- Manage transportation exceptions and assist with ensuring timely rail and truck delivery.
Sales Planning Support
- Partner with National Accounts Manager on maintaining the forecasting models.
- Provide data on sales variability, forecast accuracy and future forecasts that are used in setting safety stocks and inventory planning parameters.
Production Planning support
- Partner with National Accounts Manager on maintaining the production forecasting system.
- Analyze production trends and imbalances.
Inventory Control
- Consignment inventory processing and balancing support functions
- Replenish products weekly or as needed by location achieving target inventory.
- Monitor and forecast transportation trends used to forecast future inventory needs.
- Track and manage order shipments adjusting inventory to meet target inventory levels.
- Analyze target inventory needs, safety stock and mill excess inventory positions.
- Resolve discrepancies identified in consignment inventory reconciliation process.
- Play a lead role in developing corrective actions and improvements in consignment inventory processes including customers and internal stakeholders.
New Product program support
Develop and manage new product setup, support, and follow through to the sale.
Data Management
Maintain back-end systems to support the consignment and open market business.
About our successful candidate
- You have excellent attention to detail and are highly organized.
- You have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- You are proficient in Excel and not just making it look nice, you have data analysis skills, and when someone says vlookup or create a pivot table you say no problem, and how about I throw in a forecast sheet and create a new data model too?
- You have strong analytical skills and enjoy problem solving and producing accurate forecasts.
- You have had success in taking initiative to improve business processes.
- We prefer you have prior experience working with sales orders, inventory, logistics, and demand planning.
- We prefer you have Industry / Market knowledge in the lumber industry and Supply Chain experience.
