Finishing Supervisor Position
Job Title : Finishing Supervisor
Department : Finishing
Reports To : Senior Production Manager
Summary
Supervises finishing employees engaged in machine assisting and operating by performing the following duties.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Handle production employee scheduling when Manager is out of office.
- Review production schedules and estimates worker hour requirements for completion of job assignment.
- Interprets specifications, job tickets, and job orders to workers, and assigns duties.
- Examine items produced to determine if items meet specifications.
- Checking finished jobs and tickets for accuracy and completeness (sign-off on all completed job tickets)
- Interprets company policies to workers and enforces safety regulations.
- Establishes or adjusts work procedures to meet production schedules.
- Complete a QC checklist for quality criteria for each process performed on the production floor and file the checklist with each job ticket.
- Recommend measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product.
- Suggests changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of shop, department, or work crew.
- Analyzes and resolves work problems or assists workers in solving work problems.
- Initiates or suggests plans to motivate workers to achieve work goals.
- Maintains time and production records.
- Sets up machines and equipment and troubleshooting problems.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Supervisors up to 20 employees in the Finishing Department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
- Responsibilities include training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; assisting with set-ups and troubleshooting problems, fixing equipment as needed;
rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

- Basic knowledge of direct mail finishing equipment preferred.
Education and / or Experience
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and three to five years related experience and / or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
