POSITION SUMMARY :
The Capital Area YMCA is seeking experienced, motivated, team-oriented Site Coordinators to provide leadership and direct supervision at one of our After School Programs for the 2023- 2024 school year.
The Site Coordinator will be responsible for the development, administration and success of an after school child care program from Kindergarten through 6 grade.
This position pays between $21 and $23 an hour.
The Site Coordinator has ownership over administrating on-site staff training, supervision and performance evaluation; creating and overseeing the implementation of quality academic enrichment curriculum and activities as they relate to the philosophy of the YMCA;
maintaining ratio; guiding behavior and providing a safe, sanitary physical environment, while building relationships and communicating with parents.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :
1. Supervises a team of staff members.
2. Assist in tutoring elementary education (K-6) subject material.
3. Assist in the implementation of age / developmentally appropriate activities following YMCA guidelines.
4. Assist in the planning and implementation of program activities that are culturally relevant, developmentally appropriate and consistent with YMCA values.
5. Apply basic youth development principles in working with children through communication, relationship development, respect for diversity, involvement and empowerment of youth.
6. Actively guide staff in best practices.
7. May assist the program director in coordinating overall program activities
8. Ensures the proper use of school property and grounds as well as YMCA equipment and supplies.
9. Adheres to program standards including safety and cleanliness standards.
10. Participate in staff training and meetings.
11. Follows YMCA policies and procedures, including those related to medical and disciplinary situations, child abuse prevention and emergencies.
12. Adheres to program standards including safety and cleanliness standards.
13. Be a role model to students and staff in your attitude and behavior.
14. Maintains positive relations with children, parents, school personnel, co workers, subordinate staff and volunteers. Models relationship-building skills (including Listen First) in all interactions.
15. Work on non-school days such as Fall Break, Spring Break, etc.
16. Operations : manage and direct day-to-day operations of the program
17. Staff Development : train, supervise, motivate and evaluate staff to assure effective and efficient performance; participate in workshops and conferences that will enhance professional growth
18. Program Management : administer curriculum while working to improve quality and consistency of care
19. Relationship Building : develop and maintain cooperative and supportive relationships with parents, school staff, volunteers and youth
20. Compliance : maintain licensing and accreditation standards
21. Facility Management : ensure the safety and cleanliness of the School facilities in use
22. Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :
- At least 20 years of age
- Must meet the minimum qualifications (high school degree and preferably working towards an advanced degree)
- Must have proven experience in child care management and or group management strategies
- Interest in children and significant evidence of emotional maturity, good moral character, judgment, integrity and leadership capability.
- Ability to adapt to changing needs and circumstances.
- Ability to communicate with children and deal effectively with inappropriate behavior.
- Able to pass a background check, and be fingerprinted
- Willing to maintain health and safety standards which include, but are not limited to :
- Cleaning and sanitizing all program areas using the supplied disinfectant cleaners.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Ability to assist in the planning, leading and participating in a range of activities in a variety of outdoor / indoor settings.
- Able to lift at least 25 lbs, bend, lift and kneel.
Background check and fingerprinting must be completed within first 10 days of work.
